"Taylor is true to his word. Very professional and knowledgeable. He explained everything that he was going to do to test for mold. The end result, we had no mold problem, unlike the duct cleaning company indicated. ZeroMold is a very trust worthy company and i highly recommend them!"

"Every person was professional and cordial. The estimator was thorough and explained everything well. The process took three days: one to remove the moldy part of the wall and dry the interior of the wall and carpet, then after letting it dry over the weekend, another came in to plaster, and then the next day another came in to paint and replace the vent and wood trim. He left my place spotless, vacuumed the whole room, and even took the initiative to tighten a screw on my screen door. I highly recommend this company. And if I ever need restoration services again I would call on them. Also, when I pointed out that they didn't need to remove the carpet and pad as estimated, they took the initiative to remove that expense from the invoice without my having to ask for it."

I called the office with additional questions after receiving the report. My questions were answered quickly and professionally. Great customer service."

"The service provider showed up on time with knowledge of the problem I was having with spiders.  He was answered all my questions about the safety of the chemicals to children and pets and provided good advice on frequency of pest control treatment to keep the population of spiders and other bugs down.  Very friendly and even removed the spider webs from around the perimeter of the house as he sprayed.  I will definitely use this company again and follow his advice for 4 times/year treatment. <br />"

"They were friendly and the duct cleaning went smoothly. However, as part of a different project several months later, my ducts were cleaned by a different company (MoldX), and the lack of thoroughness on the part of Kohmar Air Duct Cleaning became apparent. The second duct cleaners were way more thorough, followed NADCA standards, and pulled out debris (including a cardboard box left over from my home's construction) that had been sitting in my ducts growing mold -- and that Kohmar missed. The Kohmar team was pleasant to deal with but they just didn't do a very complete job. <br />"

"I had mold growing under my house that was causing wood destruction and odor in the living areas. Several companies wanted to use other methods to remedy the situation. I did some research and found out that crawlspace encapsulation is the ONLY remedy. I had two other companies give me estimates on the work needed. One was higher than Bales, and one was much lower in price. All three wanted to use different methods to complete the job. Anthony, from Bales, came out and gave me a clear and concise evaluation of what was happening and what it would take to fix it. This was after I had two other companies come out and tried to pressure me to sign for repair right then. Bales, not only did not pressure me, but rather told me to think about it and let them know what I decide. They had several different options to try and fit my budget. I was extremely impressed by the presentation. Also, they gave me a book called "Crawlspace Science". It was VERY informative. They offered me a package deal at a reasonable cost. They started and finished on-schedule. While working under the house, one of their workers inadvertently knock my dryer's vent hose loose. It was a easy accident as I had that thing virtually wedged in there. I've knock it loose myself. Anyway, I called Anthony and he came out on his day off and fixed it for me. Again, I was impressed. I did my homework, and Bales was telling me mostly what I had been reading about the Clean Space encapsulation method and material, except for one very important thing (for me), they used foam spray on the foundation walls, effectively super-insulating the crawlspace from ALL the outside elements. Immediately I noticed the temperature of the hard wood floors begin to warm, which made my heating unit run less, and my feet felt warmer too ! They also removed the insulation from crawlspace side of my floors and sprayed to kill all the mold. None of the other companies spoke about doing this. They said they would leave the insulation up and the mold would die when the crawlspace humidity was controlled. Wrong. They might hibernate, but they don't go away either. If you Dehumidifier went out, the mold would begin to grow again. Anyway, Bales did a good job. I have a few minor issues with them, but much less than anyone else who ever did major work on my house. I am sure their method is the BEST method for crawlspace encapsulation, I've done A LOT of research, but using that foam is saving me more money than it takes to run the Dehumidifier under the house. If you are having mold issues, I would give them a call !"

"The report was very professional and detailed. The response was fast. The price was expensive but due to the detail, understandable. I wouldn't hire again due to multiple requests for a completed report and estimate for the mold remediation and just getting robotic replies that didn't answer my questions."

FAQs for toxicity and mold removal projects in Norfolk, VA

Remediation should keep mold from returning as long as the moisture source is eliminated. Fix leaks, control humidity, and replace water-damaged materials, then schedule periodic inspections to stay ahead of new growth. With those safeguards, your home can stay mold-free for the long haul while protecting both health and property value.

Most pros recommend leaving the home while they work on mold remediation. Removing mold stirs up airborne spores that can aggravate respiratory issues, and contractors can work more efficiently in an empty space. A short, temporary relocation keeps everyone in your family safe and lets the crew finish the job without interruption.

Mold shouldn’t return once the moisture problem is fixed. Stay vigilant: repair leaks right away, keep humidity below 50 percent with a dehumidifier placed in damp areas, and improve ventilation where needed. Routine checks for leaks and mold and quick repairs go a long way toward keeping your home mold-free.

Mold spores can trigger nasal congestion, throat irritation, coughing, wheezing, eye irritation, or skin rashes. People with asthma, allergies, or weakened immune systems often feel the effects sooner and more intensely. Some molds also release mycotoxins linked to serious respiratory or neurological issues. Swift remediation and better ventilation are the best defenses.
