"Overall went very smooth. Becky, Andy and Andy Jr. worked with us to install on separate days to accommodate our tenants in our building. They also had to make accommodations to work at the same time as a paving crew was working. we almost didn't know they were here. No disruptions to the work going on in the building. Saved us allot of money over complete window replacement. Fantastic end result."

"Fantastic--Alex is prompt and does excellent work. I had all of the very old window screens in my home replaced, including one screen that needed to be made from scratch due to a bent frame. A few years ago, Alex made a new frame for a screened patio door with great results, so I asked him to redo the screens on the windows this year. Alex arrived promptly, removed the window screens, replaced the screens, made a new frame and screen for one window, and then put the window screens back in. He worked efficiently, is friendly, and his price was more than reasonable. I'm very happy with my new screens and just as happy that I know who to call if I need additional work--Alex aka The Screen Guy. Thanks, Alex!"

"Excellent. Jace and Ben did an excellent job of washing both interior and exterior of all my windows, doors and both sides of my deck glass windows...a total of 83. I have never had my windows cleaned before and they now look great. I chose Russell Williams after reading reviews on Angie's List and their work was great."

"Every step of the process went smoothly and the project got finished almost two weeks ahead of time. They knew their product and helped us to make good choices to update our 30 year-old screen porch. Now it has expansive views, easier maintenance and screens should withstand our black lab’s claws. Per our request, they did the tear down on a Friday afternoon, gave us the weekend to do any needed painting, and they completed the install the following Monday morning. Very much appreciated this accommodation."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Brooklyn Park, MN

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
