Customers say: True professional

"Neil came out and gave us an estimate along with recommendations on what shade of white would look nice. The first working day he came out to remove all of the cabinet doors, drawers (36 of them!) and a few shelves and he painted the boxes. He took the doors and drawers home to spray them (he hand-painted the boxes so we didn't have to shut down the room which was nice). while painting the doors he discovered a slight difference in the door paint vs the box paint (he showed me and honestly I would have never known) so he came back out and repainted the boxes. At this time he brought a sample he had done of the cabinet door antiquing detail (he hand-painted some of the grooves) so we could approve that. When he finished the cabinets he even went back and caulked areas and touched up our walls in spots that may have needed it. Even with the paint color issue, all the hand-painted detailing and Christmas coming up, he still finished ahead of schedule and we had a new kitchen for Christmas! He was incredibly professional throughout the process and an easy-going nice guy. It's been 4 months and I still walk into my kitchen and just stare at the cabinets because I love them so much now! I would (and have) highly recommend him to anyone looking to have any painting done!"

"I was having a hard time getting financing from the big box lenders but Mark was able to find me one and at short notice. When it looked like the deal would fall through because of title issues from the seller, Mark offered his guidance and expertise and was right there throughout the whole process. The whole 5 months! No call was to early, late or frequent. Mark was always accessible and immediately responsive. A man of his word. This property virgin and veteran is now living the American dream thanks to Mark Principi and the Central Lending staff. I would definitely recommend."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"We met Kevin at a home show, and signed up for more information about cabinet refacing. We were called repeatedly, and finally agreed to proceed. Kevin came to our house for an estimate on 2/4/12, and was punctual and courteous. We were offered a 10% discount if we signed up on the spot. We did. We got no start date, however, and weren't called for several weeks. I called several times, with no answer; then I got a call that the project manager would be calling me. No call.  Six weeks went by, and we finally heard from Tim, who did the work. He came out and measured, and was extremely polite.  He told me once he started a job, he just moved, and could probably do our rather large kitchen (26 cabinet doors,  in about a week and a half.
Tim started the end of March.  He generally arrived after 10-10:30 am, and in the beginning was gone by about 2 pm, saying he had other measures to do, etc. I never knew when he would arrive, and he never called to tell me. I gave him our garage pass code, but one day he sat outside waiting for me, upset, saying he would never come into the house when I wasn't there to let him in....what?? Why did I give you the garage code??? Why don't you call and tell me when you are coming????
Our kitchen is in the hub of the downstairs, and was sealed off for three weeks. We had to go through plastic sheeting to get anywhere, and the kitchen was unusable. He worked with one person for a couple of days, then it was just Tim. I am not a refacer, but why don't you do all the sanding at once, and get it over with? Why not use the vacuum that attaches to the sander right from the start?
He rebuilt three cabinets, one of which was too large for the counter that had already been ordered. He did not follow my specifications in a couple of instances, saying I had told him to make certain changes.  We hadn't discussed the changes he made. Once he told me he did something differently than I asked because "it would look better."   I was told that the drain for the sink wasn't written into the estimate, and I would have to get it.The lesson learned is get EVERYTHING IN WRITING! Tim finished the work in just over three weeks, but near the end started to work all the time, and was in my house working the day before Easter. Not what I wanted.
The ultimate result is that the kitchen looks great, but the experience was uncomfortable, to say the least. By the way, I expect the manager, Kevin, to call at some point and check to see if we are happy and to see the end result. We never heard from him.

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Brownsville, PA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
