"Jim Behrendt has been our primary contractor for a dozen rental units and our personal residence for over ten years. We have counted on him for remodels (primarily turning over vacant apartments), plumbing, flooring of all types, and general construction. He has done difficult, unpleasant jobs for us, like turning a rat-infested attic into a gorgeous finished extra living space, while charging very reasonable rates. He always looks for the most cost effective solution that addresses the issue. For example, when we told by a plumber we needed a re-pipe (who had just charged an exorbitant amount for a slab leak), Jim recommended and carried out a much simpler repair at a small fraction of any other estimate. Most important to us is that Jim has always been honest, looking out for OUR best interest in giving his advice. We never once felt overcharged for anything. He is not only extremely skilled and knowledgeable, he is a consummate professional with a rare brand of integrity."

"Could not get a firm price over the phone but agreed to the $ 89.00 minimum charge for them to come out and estimate with the understanding that, worst case, I could apply the $ 89.00 to just the haul away portion of the job. Once the technician wanted over $ 1,000 more than the $ 1,595 "base price" originally discussed to install the new water heater, (which was more than $ 700 more than another company had already quoted me), I said let's just do the haul away of the old one, and the technician said "we are an all-or-nothing-company" and that he would not haul away the old unit if I was not having the new one installed. I said that was not what was told to me on the phone and the technician said they record all their calls and he had "played the tapes" of my calls before he came. A strange claim, but okay, so I said "play the tape again" and he said "I don't need to play it again". If there had really been a tape and a misunderstanding we could have gotten to the bottom of it, but clearly he had no interest in that. I can accept high pressure sales and bait-and-switch tactics as techniques some companies will use to do business, but not drawing a line at dishonesty and abuse tells me this company does not know how to treat people right or do business ethically. I won't call this company again, ever."

"I really enjoyed working with Mike, Chris and June. I had high hopes of getting into our remodeled home within the allotted time that was discussed in the contract but when Covid hit it made the process much longer. Our choices were out of stock or were coming in later than promised. But overall Mike and his team were so professional and so honest with me and my husband about what step they were on or any problems that came up. "Wesley was extremely responsive. He made all efforts allowing us to continue doing our business at home while he was assessing the problem, assembling his crews, and obtaining a City permit. We were well informed of the progress. His crew did an excellent and clean job, working long hours getting the job done. Including excavated to a depth of 10 feet, patched up our concrete driveway and patched up the AC roadway nicely. Wesley even found time to replace our kitchen faucet and under drain without extra charge. Don’t believe he would be the cheapest initial estimate you would get. We would definitely ask him for all future plumbing needs."

"Having hosted the HGTV program “My House is Your House”, we’ve worked with and vetted many cabinet builders across San Diego and Southern California. I cannot understate enough how much of a mistake it was to choose Mr Cabinet Care for our kitchen cabinets on an Encinitas project. We are extremely disappointed with our experience with Mr Cabinet Care. We arranged & purchased custom cabinet drawer fronts that were supposed to be high-quality, but they arrived with noticeable gaps. the gaps were problematic for two reasons: 1. for the drawers / doors that closed incorrectly and 2. for being prone to collecting food debris (and unable to clean or remove that debris). When I contacted the company about this clear defect (the food /gap error), they completely dismissed my concerns, blaming “care and maintenance” instead of acknowledging the poor workmanship. Even worse, they provided doctored photos in an attempt to shift the blame, falsely suggesting that residue such as gum or putty had been left on the drawers. Not only was this completely untrue—no such residue existed in any of the photos we originally provided, nor in any additional photos we took. Falsifying evidence to avoid responsibility is not just dishonest; it’s unethical and gives us even greater concern over other claims they’ve made in workmanship or materials. The operations manager even said “The material you selected, White Oak Select, is naturally prone to expansion and contraction due to environmental factors such as heat and humidity. Upon reviewing the photos taken by the technician, it appears that the issues you are experiencing are likely related to care and maintenance, rather than any manufacturing defect.” These were installed weeks prior to our notice, not years later, and during a cool weather season. To claim extreme weather (like heat & humidity) in San diego is laughable and outrageous. Under California law, products like these are covered by warranties ensuring they are fit for their intended purpose. These drawer fronts clearly do not meet that standard, yet the company refused to honor its obligations. Instead of standing behind their product, they chose to manipulate the situation to avoid accountability. Beware if you work with them and have future warranty issues, youre going to likely run into similar defenses and accusations. I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with this company. If they are willing to misrepresent facts and dismiss valid concerns, I can only imagine how they handle other customer complaints. We regret this purchase for our client and would never recommend them to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship or honest customer service. We will not be using them for any future HGTV projects nor recommending them to other clients or customers"

We've been thrilled with the final product and the experience of signing with Ouri from day one was a pleasure. This was our first large project and we would undoubtedly hire Ouri again. Project We instinctively knew Ouri was the best fit for us after the on-site consultation. Not only are his reviews overwhelmingly positive, but he's knowledgeable, respectful, patient, and honest, with competitive pricing to boot. He's also a very responsive communicator. We needed some time after signing the contract to shop for materials. Ouri kindly rolled with our uncertain timeline, checking in periodically without any pressure to see where we were at and advising on any questions we had along the way. From the beginning of the project, his crew was respectful, clean, and always checked in with us as any questions came up. The project went smoothly and for one very minor hiccup that came up, Ouri & crew were quick to address without question. And months later, he sent a member of his crew to come troubleshoot something minor, again without any hesitation. It's challenging to keep these brief when you have such a great experience, especially when you read and hear about horror stories from other people. Selfishly, maybe we should keep this to ourselves so he isn't so busy when we need him for another project in the future :) Scope The bathroom was totally gutted save for some sections of drywall. A full tiled shower with a bench was installed (replacing a tiny old corner unit!), along with added lighting & exhaust fan, new floor tile, and all new fixtures/ cabinets/ paint. The plumbing and the shower drain were relocated. An old window was removed and replaced by a new one on an adjacent wall."
