"Mike answered my first call, came a couple of days later to provide an estimate and installed my existing carpet less than a week later.  He was very prompt, professional and the job was very well done.  Although using existing carpet that has been sitting in a crawl space for years is never a carpet installer's dream, he was very polite about this situation. <br /> <br /> Good guy, nice work, local presence.  My contractor has found a new carpet guy to work with."

"I am a regular client of Dry Step because of their prompt, professional service. I love that the carpet is cleaned with non-toxic product and that the quality exceeds my expectations. Even pet stains are gone. The technician is knowledgeable and prompt. I would highly recommend Dry Step."

"Carpet companies should all be like this.  This is a small, family owned business.  The family sells the carpet, the family (father and sons) installs the carpet.  And they do a terrific job and a very competitive price.  This job required a great deal of craftsmanship, for example, each of 20 stairs requires the carpet to be sewn all the way around.  It was all done perfectly. <br /> They gave us exactly what we ordered, they did it on time, they were careful with our furniture and they cleaned up completely before they left. <br />"

"Montie prompt and professional and did exactly what he promised to do, even earlier than scheduled. We needed our carpets stretched (they were BAD!!) and he and his crew finished in under 2 hours.  We found a ripple that was "hiding" under a dresser after they were gone. When we contacted him, he was happy to help and will be back later this week to re-stretch the area.  I would absolutely recommend him and will use him for any carpet installations in the future!  Thank you! <br />"

"I sent my request in late yesterday evening, after 9:00 pm. He responded within about 20 minutes, and by 11:30 last night, I knew that he could do the work today because of a cancellation. I called him this morning to give him the address and additional information. He arrived and brought 2 men with him. They did a fantastic job. The carpet looks great and the furniture is back in place. All I had to do was to write a check. I would recommend his service to anyone who needs carpet installation or repair. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Columbus, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
