He checked everything and was puzzled as to what the problem might be. I mentioned checking in the attic as a possible source of the odor. James went up and through the trusses to the area over the house bathroom. He came back and asked me for a trash bag and showed me a picture he had taken of a dead squirrel. He went back and collected the remains and gave them to me in the bag. The dead critter stunk to high heaven through the bag. He said it would take some time for the stink to dissipate. "We met Chris and Caleb with an inch of water on the floor and a lot of frustration. They first got the 1yr old sump running again to drain the water down. Then the diagnosed the issue with the failed pump and replaced it quickly for approx $500. We discussed the backup system at the time but I honestly couldn't impulse that much and I wanted to review options. Waited 5 weeks and reviewed other options only to came back to the professional solution offered. Also realized the quote (under $2K) was actually very reasonable for the dual battery complete backup we had installed .. more of an investment than a bandage."

They initially came to unclog a blockage ($99 charge) and attempted to unclog it for 2+ hours before they realized it might be a bigger issue.
