"I am very pleased with the back-yard patio Conrad and his crew installed. Cost was very competitive. Timeline for project was very close to original estimate. Conrad was very helpful in helping us make final design decisions, especially on picking the paver block style and color. He also promptly addressed all of me concerns, even though they were mostly minor. His crew also worked with me to get the final outline of the patio, with many curves. Del Mar Landscaping is definitely on the top of my list for any future landscaping work."

"Responded quickly to our service request by responding the same day. Provided a fair price. Installed artificial grass that looks great. Made helpful suggestions to maintain the grass. Would definitely hire again."

"We needed asphalt repair and resurfacing on our 50+ year old driveway. Not exactly an attractive project for concrete / asphalt companies that typically prefer large projects. But CSI responded right away and scheduled an appointment for the following day to inspect the driveway. They came back to me within hours with a reasonable written estimate. The work was completed in two visits over the next two weeks, as the asphalt repair needed time to cure before applying a new topcoat. Thorough clean up and removal of old asphalt and debris was provided. Outstanding quality work performed by friendly and honest people. Would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you, David, Kyle and crew for a job well done!"

"**Wow! Jacob Hauling is an absolute gem among local landscapers!** After struggling with a DIY backyard for years, we finally decided to seek the expertise of a professional landscaper to transform our challenging sloped backyard. Our main goals were to level the last tier, install new fences and retaining walls. Among the two quotes we received, Jacob's pricing stood out as significantly more reasonable than the competitor's. Impressed with their offer, we promptly scheduled the project for the following week. From day one, Jacob and his team arrived with a fleet of impressive large trucks for debris and materials, accompanied by skilled workers who efficiently cleared away the 20-plus-year-old fences, logs, and other structures within the first 30 or 40 minutes. As the project unfolded, we were continually impressed by their craftsmanship, leading us to expand the scope of their work. Not only did the crew level and improve our entire backyard, but they also went above and beyond by building a stunning concrete planter box in the front of the house and a beautiful hardwood planter box on the sidewalk. Additionally, they took care of a small open plot, filling it with concrete to prevent future weed growth. Beyond their exceptional workmanship, Jacob and his team demonstrated remarkable customer service. They skillfully mediated with our neighbors to find a mutually satisfying fencing solution, and to our surprise, they generously hauled away log slabs from the neighbors' yard at no additional cost – a gesture of kindness that we deeply appreciated. Throughout the three-day project, the crew worked tirelessly from 7:30 am to 7 pm, displaying unwavering dedication and attention to detail. Their efficiency and quick turnaround were truly commendable. They flawlessly executed every aspect of the job, going the extra mile to rehang our string lights, which had been damaged by the neighbors' arbor crew the previous year. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude to Jacob and his entire crew for transforming our backyard into the oasis of our dreams. Without hesitation, I **highly recommend** this incredible team to anyone in need of landscaping services. Their professionalism, skill, and thoughtfulness are unparalleled, making Jacob Hauling an exceptional choice for any landscaping project."

"Falkon construction provided efficient, fast, thorough job to the hardscaping that I needed. In summary, they were the most professional team that I have worked with. "Spoke to owner, Larry on the phone, sent pictures and short video. Josh came out to see, measure, advise and give formal quote. Very professional, courteous. Hired that day, scheduled work to be done within a few days, two day job. Crew moved all heavy items off surface. Took two days, as estimated and even came back a few days later (after seal dried and set) to put heavy items back. Very happy with a job well done and at a fair price. Will hire again with no reservations."

"I called them for an estimate to landscape the backyard with some front yard work. They were prompt and responded quickly. The estimate came back within the time they said I would get it. The estimate was a bit higher than the others but comparable. I went with another landscaper mainly because SB Landscaping wasn't able to start as soon as the other. I would definitely have them again for an estimate or more."

"Sureshine came in and spent several hours fixing it, that was eight months ago and the repair is holding strong and looks great. Because the original installation was so bad, there was no way for them to say with certainty that it wouldn't happen again, but for what I paid for the repair and how long its lasted so far, with no sign of it quitting anytime soon, I think I got what I paid for or better and I would definitely give them a call in the future."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Carson, CA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
