"The orginial work was done in the 1990's and was the best part of our remodel. They had great ideas, beautiful designs, and the quality is outstanding. "During the 2nd half of 2018 we had a major remodel done on our 27 year old home that included a complete overhaul of our kitchen, dining room, master bath, hall bath, ½ bath, and a laundry room. In most of these areas we had our original red oak cabinets that, while still solid and functional, had long ago lost their appeal. So, we decided to replace them all during our project with Spivey Remodeling. The folks at Spivey recommended we speak to Tom Carter of Carter Cabinets who had done quite a bit of work with them over the years. Coincidentally, we lived less than five miles from Tom’s showroom, so visiting was always convenient. And Tom made it easy, since he was always available on weekend or early evening to drop by his showroom. He was very patient with us while we mulled over one of the biggest decisions we had to make in a couple decades, that is, the color and style of the cabinets. This is a huge investment and was singularly the largest cost item in our project, so we wanted to be sure before committing. Using the selection options Tom had at his showroom, we decided on off-white modified Shaker-style cabinets for our kitchen, laundry and ½ bath. We selected a dark stained maple with a somewhat more upscale 5-pc mitered drawer and cabinet fronts for the master and hall baths. All of Tom’s cabinets are custom-made by Amish craftsmen in southern Indiana. There were many options available for things like roll-outs, knife drawers, spice drawers, etc., and built-in roll-out dual trash bins, which we love. They have a very nice crown-mould around the top where the cabinets meet the ceiling and another trim piece at the bottom edge of the cabinet uppers that really add a high-quality feel to them. The joints on all of the cabinets, doors and drawers are tight, the finish is very smooth, and they look terrific in all of our spaces. We’re very happy with the cabinets in all of our spaces and they’ve completely changed the look of our rooms. These are very high quality cabinets that would work well in any home. We recommend Carter Cabinets and are very pleased to have their products in our home."

"The tile work. electrical, and drywall was in turn subcontracted to subs of his recommendation.  The work he completed was professional grade, Mitch is a perfectionist, and a tool nut.  He loves his tools and uses them to great advantage.  He made new upper cabinets, raised panel, and an arch to connect, then put crown molding to top off everything.  Both bathrooms turned out twice as nice as I expected, but also cost more than I had hoped, but that was not his fault, the tile work was 50% of the job, but was worth it in the end. <br /> I would definitely use him again, and plan to do so when the kitchen is remodeled.  There are two thing I would ask him to do differently.  The first is to manage the subs.  Although he brought in great subs in, it was not clear if he was acting as a general contractor, or not, and left details of working with the subs to me (sometimes), which caused some confusion.  The second is that he work from a fixed bid.  He came in on a variable time and material bid, but when he went over his estimate, he agreed to change to a fixed bid for the remainder of the work so it was not an open ended job, that was very nice.  He ended up eating some of the cost as things always happen that are not anticipated, then there has to be some negotiating as to who should cover those costs.  Mitch was always honest and fair in those negotiations, and we are very happy with the final outcome."

"I did not use them but the quote was very fair. They seemed like a good company and were highly recommended to us by some other people. They were inflexible with what they could do. There are only two styles of doors that he made and he would not make the cabinet doors that I wanted. If you buy what he makes I'm sure he makes a great product at a good price. He did not have the modern style I am looking for. The presentation was fine and they were professional but they were not real timely."
