"Our homesite is large and in an unincorporated part of East Cobb County.  The land had been neglected with a dense thicket of half-dead trees, stumps, and uneven ground left by the tree removal service.   Bryan had to bring-in a Caterpillar 953 track loader with a toothed-bucket to first rip and dig around 150 stumps and root-masses; that took several weeks of intense labor and rough grading.  Approximately 200 tons of dirt was graded and moved to correct drainage issues, all of which was part of our existing lot so no new material had to be imported.  Another 10 large tandem-axle dump truck loads and two 16 cubic yard container loads of JUST STUMPS AND TREE ROOTS were excavated and removed from the work site.  Bryan completed all of the dirt work personally using his own equipment and trucks; he is an owner/operator and does not lease his equipment.  This is somewhat rare with smaller contractors due to the sizable overhead expense involved.  So in other words, what he tells you he can do is not contingent on what the rental company may or may not have the day work is to begin.
Site preparation can be difficult and laborious depending on how much dirt has to be moved and graded.  Since there were so many trees and stumps to deal with (not to mention the garbage weather this year), this phase took several weeks to complete.  Good equipment operators know intuitively how to level, backfill, and finish grade for effective drainage.  Bryan knows how to do this very well, and our site, slab footings, and yard were finished to our specification.  After site prep, we pulled permits ourselves with the county.  This requires a surety bond to be purchased, as well as a septic analysis by the county health department.  It did not matter that scope of work had no plumbing or electrical, so be prepared (we had to have our drain field replaced which cost $4200 including soil analysis).  The footings were prepared to code and passed with no issues.  Again, an experienced dirt and concrete tech will save you time and money if allowed to perform necessary site prep first.  It makes no sense to get your footings dug only to fail inspection due to inadequate compaction of substrata, or a stump or root that is rotting underneath.
The buildings are engineered structures that have already been designed to code for numerous municipalities and counties nationwide.  So after we selected what we wanted, partial payment was made with balance due on satisfactory completion.  The crew arrived on-time and completed both structures in two days.  HINT:  if you have fresh concrete and don't want oil dripped on it by their truck, ask the lead to place some cardboard or wood under the engine, otherwise you'll have an awesome oil spill on your 13k concrete driveway that Bryan crafted two weeks prior.  The driveway and sidewalk were formed and poured in two separate days, and went-off without any issues.  Like all the concrete, we paid the plant directly which represented a savings since Bryan does not mark-up that cost; you only pay for the labor and material actuals.

The whole job - all four phases - took about 140 days to complete, including weather delays.  Dirt work and grading requires a "sweet spot" of moisture, temperature, sunshine, and readiness to complete effectively.  If you're patient, especially here with ATL bi-polar weather, you will end-up with a satisfactory job.  This stuff cannot be rushed.  The metal buildings are high quality and match the house in color, roof-pitch, and layout.  The more you spend, the better looking and higher quality building you'll get.  Opt for welded truss work, 12 gauge steel framing, and boxed-eaves.  I opted for custom insulated garage doors that match the house garage door.  That, as well as color-matched gutters and vinyl windows make it look crafted and finished.

Bryan is honest and what he says he will do is what he will do.  He provides a written estimate and does his best to stick to it unless a major change-order such as all-day stump removal or grading revisions occur.  He does not bait-and-switch; he will stop the job and notify you should something need attention.  I recommend his services.

"

Josh was on time, gave me a reasonable estimate, and worked efficiently. He even came back to repair some tread marks left by my postal worker who did not see the caution tape.

I considered doing the job myself but Josh saved me from using some of the quick dry repair concrete they sell at Home Depot. He was knowledgeable and quite personable. It was a pleasure working with him.

"I had a very good experience with them. They were in and out within three days because they had to wait for the concrete to set. They cleaned up their mess afterwards. I had no problems with them. They also gave me a guarantee that will be good for the next person. I feel that the price was fair for all of the work that they did."

"Donna and Jeff (owners) were hands on supervisors. They both patiently answered lots of questions and provided recommendations and resources out of their scope of business.  I felt confident that Jeff and Donna knew their business well and that my best interests were being well served.  I feel confident that they will respond quickly to any questions that I may have in the future regarding this project.  I would recommend them without any reservation.  I felt like I was fairly treated and charged a fair price for their services and the system installed.  Stated scheduled was maintained with proposed start and completion dates.

FAQs for concrete delivery projects in Cassville, GA

The amount of concrete you need varies by project. One 80lb bag covers an area of about 2 square feet, for a slab 4 inches thick. Two 60lb bags of concrete cover an area of about 2 square feet for a slab that is 6 inches thick.

A truckload of concrete can usually hold a maximum of 10 cubic yards.

The cost of concrete per cubic yard depends on which brand you purchase, but usually costs about $110 for bags.

It takes about 41 bags of concrete to fill a cubic yard. Always plan to buy a few bags more than the exact required amount in case of mistakes.

To calculate the amount of concrete you need for a slab, you should find the cubic yardage of the area you will be filling. Just follow these steps:

  1. Measure the area in feet.

  2. Multiply length by width, and then by thickness.

  3. Divide the resulting number by 27 to find cubic yards.
