"We regionally met AB and Borja Unique Masonry a year ago when someone ran into our wall by the road and needed someone to replace the brick. They did a great job and at that point we started thinking about other things that needed to be done. AB came several times at the end of 2019 to discuss options. We were not able to follow through at that time but asked him for a bid this past April when we were ready. We are so glad he was able to do our projects. AB, the project manager and owner, made artistic recommendations and explained the process and why he did what he did. This is unusual as most contractors do not explain anything and I so appreciated the time he took, his customer service, honesty, and fair prices. The workmen were of the same caliber and took pride in their work, were courteous and cleaned up so well after the work that you would never know that they had been there except for the beautiful end result. Our project was as follows. We had a paver patio and stairs in which the pavers had sunken in and the cement borders had broken. We had retaining walls with cracks and a yard wall with a crack due to a neighboring tree s root. We had missing mortar in some of our block walled house and bricks on one of our decorative were crumbling. Because the color of our pavers no longer existed, in order to fix our patio we needed to take some of the pavers from our walkway which they replaced with beautiful flagstone. AB also had to find brick to match our faded brick on our decorative wall. And a crack had formed in our house wall. There was a variety of skills needed and they did a magnificent job. You d never be able to tell things had been patched and our patio area looks so much better than ever. We would highly recommend Borja Unique Masonry."

Then Gil and his band of magicians came in, sculpting the yard, putting in bricks in two circular areas outside the covered patio (they even brought in a surveyor to make sure it was built to have water run off into the desert behind us!), adding paving stones from the patio to the circular areas, and then adding incredible plants and boulders while rebuilding our irrigation system for the new plants. Somehow, Gil and his team finished in three days but never lost their attention to detail. When adding the paving stones, his worker continually used a level to make sure the stones were even with the patio and the brick circular area. When Gil replanted the cacti, he found the most wonderful areas for them. I had a number of aloes in pots, and they transplanted them into an aloe bed they'd designed under the picture window. No question, no extra cost. I could go on for ever. My wife and I are completely thrilled with the results; there's is ugly money you pour into a house and then there's good money. This was money well spent. The are absolutely our go-to company for landscaping."

"The steel mailboxes in our community are cemented into roadside masonry pillars. Some unknown miscreant apparently ran into my mailbox (but not the post), damaging the mailbox so extensively that I had to replace it.

I purchased a larger mailbox, and contacted Sergio Verdugo to install it. I did not seek competitive bids, but just asked him to do the job.

Because the new mailbox was larger than the old one, he and his assistant George had to chisel, saw, and jackhammer the concrete pillar to enlarge the hole to house the mailbox. The concrete was hard, about 20 years old, and Sergio complained that it was the hardest concrete he had ever had to deal with.

Hours later the job was done and the mailbox was cemented into place. Unfortunately, Sergio did not check in with me to consult about placement of the new mailbox, so it ended up being inserted into the post farther than I would have liked, was slightly cockeyed, and the clean-up was not ideal (some stucco remained on the mailbox)--hence the lower score for "quality."

The cost was more than I expected it to be, but most likely that is because of the extra time and labor involved in enlarged the cavity. But I'm a newcomer to the area, and have no feeling for what things should cost.

Although I indicated I would use Sergio Verdugo's services again in the future, I will seek competitive bids next time.
