I am my only employee. I do all my own work. When you call me you get the Master.

"In 2017, Steven came out & said both toilets needed to be replaced. (crack in 1 tank & flange issue on the other.) Requested WHITE toilets, discovered after they were already installed that he put in off white on both. One continued leaking intermittently (this time from the base), he came back out and said my imagination (without even pulling it up to check it). Another plumber FIXED the issue March 2018. Base not seated correctly, so didn't have good seal. Also asked him about pipe coming out of ground with kitchen sink water coming from it. He had no idea what it was. Called him in Feb 2018 about kitchen sink being stopped up and several other small issues. We had also discussed him replacing our small hot water heater with a larger one last year and were ready to do that. Took 3 weeks to finally get him to call us back. Scheduled for him to come out to look at everything March 8, 2018. He never showed, so I called and was told by female he would call me back. He never called back. (He had told me when we spoke in Feb that he went to work for someone else and only does his plumbing business part time afternoon and weekends now.) Would have been great if he had just told me he didn't have time for the jobs, so I could go ahead and schedule someone else. I did find someone else who turned out to be wonderful (and a full time plumber). The outside pipe turned out to be a clean out that had been left uncapped and was related to the kitchen clogged drain issue."

My name is Kent Vanattia, I am the sole owner of Arlis Home Services. What I'll tell you here, is how I came to choose this career path. I was born in Hillsboro, TN. My family owned a dairy farm. Grandpa had his own cattle but he and my Uncle also ran a "milk route". They picked up milk from other farms all over middle TN. We delivered it to a processing center along with our own milk. I learned to take care of the equipment on this farm not long after I could walk. Along the milk route, it soon became obvious to me, even as a young boy that proper maintenance sure saved a lot of time and trouble. That lesson served me well throughout my life. As a very young man, I joined the service. I found it easy to fall into a structured routine, I grew up that way. Later as I learned various trades my attention to detail and regimented style of learning and doing made it easy for me to retain and reuse my new found knowledge. And today, as I comb over a cabin for signs of potential problems or I am building a deck or other project ... I find it's the lessons of my youth that keep me on track. I named my business Arlis, because it was my dad's name. He's not with me anymore and I miss him. My Dad never did anything half-way. So naming my business after him reminds me of the lessons he taught.

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Cecil, GA

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
