"Don't call Top Hat Chimney Sweeps. I had them install a screen over the top of my chimney less than two years ago. Today, I heard some kind of animal in the chimney, so I called them to come back. Their guy was here less than 15 minutes and spent most of that on his phone. He quoted me $315 to fix the screen and add more, but said he didn't have the materials today and would have to come back. I said that was fine. Then he said that the call today, which accomplished nothing, would be $81! He didn't do anything - he didn't even have the ladders he needed to get up there, he just stood on the ground looking up at it the whole time! I said forget it and paid him that and said I'd call someone else. They obviously don't care about their customers or their work. Avoid Top Hat Chimney Sweeps!"

"I hired Wolfman’s to do basic chimney sweeping. The technician spent most of his time trying to up-sell me on everything from replacing the gas log kit to replacing my metal roof. After his “cleaning” we lit a fire only to discover that he had dislodged the damper such that it was no longer adjustable. We hired another chimney sweep a few weeks later who showed us before and after photos of their work. Wolfman’s tech hadn’t even done what we paid them to do—it was still filthy. The second crew also put the damper back in place so it would work again. So, if you want to pay for an imaginary cleaning and have your damper broken, use them."
