"JJB Home Improvements (Jeff, Joe and crew) did an outstanding job on our chimney repair. We had a small water leak in our interior attic. JJB responded quickly and professionally by setting up scaffolding for our 112 year old home. 3 stories high! No problem for JJB. They repaired the old brick, caulked, applied a skim stucco coat, then a finish stucco coat, then painted to match with elastomeric paint. We even replaced the 3 chimney caps with more decorative and functional caps. JJB was extremely professional, on time, and communicated every step of the way. I have already recommended them to neighbors and friends. So nice to have a contractor like JJB!"

"Our roof is 20 years old and showing some staining and a few edges curling but otherwise not leaking a pretty solid. Ben was honest with us and said we could get some good years out of the roof, yet. We had him do some minor gutter. He worked right alongside his crew and made sure they did thorough work. <br />"

"The service of the big deal was okay. The initial appointment  was a no show, but they rescheduled the following week. <br />  I eventually chose them to do the roof.  We signed the contract in Mid July, and were told that they would either be out the first or last week of August as they were re-arranging some schedules. Then we were told that it would be the first week of September. They finally came out  in mid November -- the one day that it was above freezing. This was after I was with them on email and phone, for 3 months trying to find out when they would be out. They would never give me a firm date. <br /> I was under the impression that they didn't use sub contractors, it seems like they used a crew of roofers that they use occasionally. It was not a very good experience. I had selected the upgraded underlayment, and according to the manufacturer, they are supposed to use a special kind of nail, cap nails, to install it. When they showed up, they didn't have that particular type of nail with them even though I had an email to the contrary. I was told by Steve that they only use that kind of nail is special circumstances and that it was not necessary. I showed him the Manufacturer's Specs. and he broke out the cap nails. They did not follow the nailing pattern recommended by the manufacturer, GAF.  <br /> The day after they completed the roof, there were strong winds and rain. A section of gutter on the front of the house ripped off, damaging aluminum awnings over two windows. The company had also been contracted to replace the gutters as well as install soffit vents. This may have been the reason the gutters were not attached well after the roof was completed.  <br /> They came out the following week to do the gutters and soffit vents. They bent up a piece of fascia to remove a piece of soffit. It was at this point they discovered that they did not have the appropriate type of venting, and to do it right would require replacing all of the soffits. (this after they had been up to look at the soffits on at least 2 prior occasions). They provided a quote for this work, and rehung the damaged piece of gutter. Because the increased expense was beyond what we had budgeted, and due to the rest of the issues, I chose to solicit quotes from other companies.  <br /> The dumpster they delivered for the work sat in our driveway for 2 weeks! I was told that they would have it picked up the following Monday after they re-hung the gutter. I called the dumpster company that Monday. They had no record of a pick-up scheduled. The dumpster company was able to re-arrange their schedule to pick up the dumpster by Weds at MY request.  <br /> With the snow melt, I have discovered additional issues. I have found roofing debris scattered around the yard, including a piece of old felt that was hung up on the power line to the house. I have found 3-4 triangles of SHARP sheetmetal scrap from the Chimney flashing. Just this morning found 2 gutter hangers, with nails sticking out, laying in the grass. This is in addition to a a number of old and new roofing fasteners (including the cap nails) scattered around the house. I am leery of cleaning an awning gutter in the back because of what I may encounter in the small gap of a gutter. <br /> In addition, the "repaired" gutter leaks, the rest of the gutters have gaps between them and the Fascia allowing light rain and snow melt to drip off the eaves instead of being directed away from the house.  <br /> I question how well the shingles have sealed due to the temperatures during installation, and for the rest of the winter. I also wonder how well the caulk used to seal the Chimney flashing cured -- again due to temperatures wen the work was done. When I have the gutters completed this spring, I will have the job inspected and may have another update."

"Chuck and his team arrived when they said that they would, and they cleaned the work area up at the end of every day. Because my neighbor's home sits close to the area on my chimney where they were working, they made sure that no damage was done to their property. Chuck gave me an update each day they were working on the chimney, telling me what they would be doing that day, and when they expected to finish the job. He also hand picked the replacement brick for my chimney, so that it would match the rest of the brick. It looks so good now that you would never know that so much work had been done on the chimney. Chuck also enhanced the top several courses of brick to add a more decorative look to the chimney from what I had before. I also asked him to add a cap on the top of the chimney for a more finished look. Chuck also spent some time with me looking at all of the brick on my home. He noticed another area on the front of my home that will need to be repaired. He'll be coming back in Spring to give a quote on that work. And based on the quality of the work that he performed for me in November, I'll definitely be using him again. He's resonable, very knowledgeable, and very conscientous about the work that he performs."
