"SLC Landscaping and Dumpsters provided exceptional service for my tree trimming project for three very large mature trees. The most compelling reason that I accepted the very competitive bid from SLC Landscaping and Dumpsters was that Corey was very knowledgeable about my trees. He provided information about the current health of the trees, listened to my concerns and understood my expectations and priorities during the pre-bid walk through at my home. He promptly assured me that the two different types of trees would benefit from different types of trimming due to the types, conditions and damage present in the wood. I was reassured to know that the trimming would not include tree branch topping or just whacking away at the tree branches. Their tree trimming process was explained in detail during the walk through. The crew arrived promptly as scheduled. They worked quickly, removed all the branches and cleaned up the area around the tree. I am very happy with the results. "

"It was an exceptional experience! I had to wait a couple of weeks between first contact & the scheduled bid appointment, which to me is a reasonable time frame given the type of work & time of season. I received an itemized bid within a couple of business days. Pricing wise they came in the middle. I chose Complete Landscapes because Jason took the time to walk through what I envisioned the end result to be, we discussed how the work would be done, how far out he was booked and he gave me options for small enhancements I hadn't thought of (like curbing around the beds) and included those in the detailed bid so I could make an informed decision.  I appreciated having a reasonable expectation set from the get go. Work commenced approx 30 days after the bid, which was within the estimated time frame. The crew was courteous and respectful of my property. I work from home and they ensured minimal interruptions to my day. The crew supervisor Juan made sure I was in agreement of the grading for the yard & planter beds and placement of the trees - this might not sound like much, but I appreciated being included before everything was final. I'm a hands on person, so this courtesy was much appreciated. The crew worked efficiently together, all in all it only took them 4 business days to complete the work.  When Jason walked the end result with me, he took the time to answer questions I had about the watering set up and steps to take to ensure the new sod rooted properly.  I would absolutely recommend Complete Landscapes to family & friends and use them in the future. <br />"

"Tony and his team did an amazing job renovating my back yard. Tony worked with us on ways to keep the project within our budget, and was very accommodating when we had a slight delay due to weather. He kept in touch via email and phone whenever I had questions or concerns. Everything was completed in a just few days. If I had done it myself it would have taken all summer. Thanks to Tony and his team, my wife and I can finally enjoy our back yard this year. Overall, I’m very happy with the results. I plan on reaching out to Tony for any landscaping projects I have in the future."

"I was hoping to have the job performed in the fall, but Rockscapes is so popular, they were busy even into Thanksgiving. I live in Emigration Oaks, at about 6000 feet, so we worried winter would set in fast. I was assured we would be the first job on the list for spring, but our spring is the valley's summer. As it turned out, we had a warm December 2014.  Chad called to say- "lets get the tear out done and set the main patio, we'll overlay the old steps in Spring"-- It was the right thing to do.  A bit noisy and messy, but the crew was awesome. They did a great clean up and took pride in every joint they created. They are truly artists, They used very large stones and every seem is no more than 1 inch. Although some of the stones are cut, it looks so natural. (900 sq feet of flagstone).  We had a wet spring, but the crew returned in late June / July to finish the stairs.   <br> <br>I appreciate my gorgeous patio everyday.  I have new neighbors ready to build and have recommended Rockscapes to them.  If I tear out my front walk, I will use them again. They really delivered top quality, obvious knowledge of how to do this well (we have clay soil- they stamped the soil and added extra gravel to make sure there was good drainage so there would be no settling as I had with the concrete) and the masons were so professional, respectful, and artistic. Chad was awesome to work with.  A+++ "

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Centerville, UT

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
