"Bob removed some existing damaged drywall and torn commercial-grade carpet in my basement as well as some unfinished framing. He also reframed ceiling soffits. Then he framed a new utility closet and wall for a future bathroom, put in wall insulation, installed three doors (one of which was a double door), framed and installed a picture window, and installed Pergo waterproof laminate flooring. He painted the ceiling and walls, installed kitchen cabinets, repaired a window sash, and installed and painted trim, including around some lolly poles to make them look like columns. He also installed matching antique bronze door hardware, insulated a cold water pipe that dripped condensation that would have ruined the new drywall ceiling, and made a nice shelf on a half wall as well as some custom plywood doors for a storage space under my stairs. He also installed wallpaper in the upstairs half bathroom. He is meticulous, thorough, and conscientious, and the quality of his craftmanship is very high. My new basement is absolutely beautiful. Since I didn't bid this entire job out, and because the total ran over the estimate that Bob provided upfront (for example, painting wasn't originally estimated, but it made sense to have him do it as part of the job when the time came), I rated him a 'B' in price. I assume that I'm grading the work based on what I think that the job should have cost, but I honestly don't know how to do that. He charges by the hour rather than the job, and all I have to go on to compare is the estimate that Home Depot gave for installing the cabinets, which was roughly the same as his estimate to install the cabinets. However, as I said, I am really happy with the end result and think that he does excellent work and has helpful ideas for saving money in terms of design, materials, and construction. He also cares about details that make a room look finished and complete."

"I initially contacted C&J Home Services for gutter cleaning, but when Jose and his team were here, we discussed other problems/issues I was having around the house. Jose is very good at diagnosing the source of problems and offering cost-efficient ways to solve them. He took care of several of my problems at the same appointment even though he had just heard about them. A gutter on the 2nd story of my house had one downspout that drained into a smaller gutter on the annex below it, causing it to overflow badly during heavy rainfalls or melting snow. The solution was to add another side downspout from the top gutter to siphon off some of the water. Jose went immediately to the local Home Depot and came back and installed a new downspout. I've had no overflow since. On another part of the house, he re-attached a piece of siding that had come off and then figured out a way to seal the leaks from my kitchen fan vent. In addition, he identified the sources of a window leak and an attic draft to be resolved at a later date. (Other contractors I'd spoken with had not figured it out). He noticed some rips on the annex roof, took photos to show me, and sent a proposal to fix it. BTW, the gutter cleaning was perfect. Jose is a pleasure to work with. He's punctual, responsive, goes above and beyond, and he's good at what he does. I will definitely contact him to do additional work for me."

The contractor who put skylights and a new window in our new home left us with large holes in the drywall around the molding for the widows and skylight.  Also, due to unevenness in the slanted ceiling where the skylights went in, the molding of the skylights was not flush against the ceiling at all points, creating a less than attractive appearance.  I wasn’t sure what needed to be done to remedy all the problems and several painters we spoke to decline to take the job because of the extent of the necessary repairs.  Matthew Milioni and Jeremy Horning came to the rescue. They carefully removed the molding around the windows and skylights, replacing all the missing dry wall behind the moldings and created a seamlessly finished repair. They also managed to fill in the gaps between the molding and the ceiling so that the molding appears flush with the ceiling throughout.  Then they did a super job painting the entire room.  They even graciously moved some heavy furniture for us which we had put in the wrong place when moving in.  Given the expertise and the care they put into the job their price was very reasonable.  They are a pleasant and  professional team and will carefully discuss with you the nature of the job to be done and all associated costs. "Rich was scheduled to come on a Friday afternoon.  He was several hours late because of an emergency that absorbed most of his work time that day.  He did stop in long enough to evaluate the problem and make sure the door was functional--the fact that he stopped by at all on a very difficult day was, to me, above and beyond the call of duty.  We agreed on the work to be done.  He returned the following Tuesday and did a complete overhaul of the garage door opening system, which had not been serviced in 15 years.  One of the cables had broken, and my husband did his best to repair it, but ran into trouble without the right length of cable.  Joe set everything to rights.  I am very pleased with his service and his professionalism, under difficult circumstances.
