"We had new floors installed by another contractor that included the kitchen. The flooring contractor shut off the water to the refrigerator's ice maker and moved the refrigerator in order to install the new floor. He reconnected the water line to the ice maker and moved the refrigerator back into place. Unfortunately, we assumed he turned the water back on and he had not. We noticed the ice maker made ice 1 time using the water that was already in the refrigerator. After that it did not make ice. We assumed that the ice maker broke. We registered with Angi to find a list of recommended appliance repair companies. Before we were able to look thru the list to make our selection, R & J Preventative Maintenance kept calling us to schedule an appointment. They must have called and left messages at least 5 times before my husband picked up their call, and made an appointment with them. I appreciate their eagerness to get our business, but I found it annoying. They came as promised and checked out the ice maker. They determined it was broken because they could not move the ice dispensing arm. They were able to pick up a replacement and returned later in the day to finish the project. They did the job neatly and cleanly. They said the ice maker should be making ice in a couple of hours. It did not. I waited 24 hours and the ice maker still did not make ice. As I told my husband about this, he then went to the basement and found that the water line to the ice maker was in the off position. He turned it back on and the ice maker started making ice within a couple of hours. It has been working well since. The gentlemen were polite, kept us up to date on their progress, and did the replacement well. My disappointment is that they did not check to see whether the water was turned on. We may have saved ourselves a couple of hundred dollars by not needing a replacement ice maker, only paying for a service call to turn the water on. Or maybe we would have needed a new ice maker. We'll never know."
