"This is an excellent company to do business with. Starting with Lisa our in store sales person, she was very knowledgeable and helped us pick the right flooring for us. She also followed up every step of the way. Chuck our installer was top notch, professional, courteous and a personal touch that we appreciated. We picked Bockrath for their reviews and we are happy to add ours to the many positive ones we read. This is a wonderful company to do business with from start to finish. "<strong>I have the tile, and needed someone to install it.  After driving some distance to visit their store was told they ONLY install tile that's purchased from them.   I asked if he could refer me to someone who laid tile, he said  'no.'   RIDICULOUS!   Folks in the trades know lots of people who do this work.  'While the salesman was courteous, I left  most discouraged.<br /> My understanding when joining Angie's List is that my service request would be reviewed and responded to by qualified vendors.  That did not happen for me.</strong> <br />"

"Chuck and Chris were extremely professional and they worked HARD -- finishing the whole job in a day, except for one part of the stairs where we had ordered extra edging on the carpet. As a result, the carpet needed to be sent back to a processing facility. McSwain's was prompt about scheduling the follow-up installation, just a few days later. We were a bit taken aback by the price, but my wife and I feel the end result is worth it. Thanks!"

"Had a great experience with Page's Flooring! From the estimate with Ron to crew installing the carpet. They were professional, courteous and punctual as well as being very reasonable. They showed up when promised and did a quality job installing quality carpet and padding. This is a very good company who still believes in treating customers as they want to be treated!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Clayton, OH

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
