"Ted came out and checked out the system and said he found it to be in excellent condition with everything working properly. Being now a cool season, he was not able to checkout the air conditioning cycles of the unit, but that would normally be done in the late spring anyway. I will plan to have him back at that time to check that aspect of the unit. Ted was most professional, courteous and knowledgeable. What I liked most about him was he made suggestions on how to save money on his services. He even told me with the newness of the system and the great condition is stays in, that I might only need a once a year checkout of the unit. It's not often you encounter someone who not only doesn't try to up-sell services, but actually makes recommendations on ways to reduce his costs to you."

"Technician called me back within 30 minutes of my voice message, and came out right away. Unit was fixed within 1 hour of my original call. No parts were required (an electrical connection was bad, causing a switch to malfunction), so unit was put back in service right away. This is my first experience with Pro Heating and Cooling, and I will definitely be calling them first for any future HVAC needs."

Three Jay Heating & Air started the way most good businesses do – with a conversation between people who saw something that needed fixing.\nOur three founders come from different worlds. One spent years in cybersecurity, learning that systems fail when people cut corners and that the details you ignore are always the ones that come back to bite you. Another came out of logistics, where meeting a deadline isn’t a courtesy – it’s the job. The third spent a decade in the field, hands-on, diagnosing and repairing problems in homes just like yours. Between the three of us, we’ve learned that doing this right means being organized, being honest, showing up when we say we will, and never walking away from a job we’re not proud of.\nWe named the company Three Jay because it represents the three partners who put their names

"Tuck&Howell technicians responded quickly to my call about a non-working home AC. The technician diagnosed a blown compressor and since our system was 20 years old recommended AC replacement. We researched and decided to replace both the AC and gas furnace to maximize efficiency. The system was diagnosed on Monday, parts ordered by Wednesday, and new system installed Friday morning - just ahead of a heat wave. (We are priority plus plan members at Tuck&Howell and that may have given us some priority - I recommend their priority plus plan service as well, which we've had for some 15 years or so.) The installation went smoothly and the new system is working great. Be sure to ask for a new thermostat, if needed, when you get a new system installed since it may or may not be included by default. We asked and it was provided. Our unit was a Carrier 3-ton, 14-seer unit with AC and gas furnace."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Cleveland, SC

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
