"Punctual, friendly, hard-working, and fast. We needed our gravel driveway paved and Saul and crew did an outstanding job. within about five hours they did our entire driveway from beginning to end. Looks great, I can't wait to park on it. Professional and skilled I would invite this crew to work for me anytime. Absolutely five stars."

"We had a bad experience based on a recommendation we were given for another paving contractor and that business did a terrible job. We were disgusted needless to say. Based on reviews from Angie's list BDB has such high ratings we decided to give them a call. I explained our situation and they were very understanding. BDB sent a person out to look at the driveway. He told us what they would do to both fix the situation and install with the correct materials. After having gone through what we did we were being very cautious about every little thing. They were truly great sports and listened to our every request. We were probably being a little fussy but we had just been through a bad experience and we had never had a driveway repaved. Devin was also great in trying to work with our very difficult time schedule. So thank you to BDB!! We would highly recommend them. Price wise they are a little pricy and they admit that and they also tried to take into consideration our situation but it was worth it."

"From the estimate to the completion of work, Precision Roads kept us informed of exactly what they were doing.  The crew came early in the morning.  They dug out the old driveway and installed the new one, finishing the work by mid-afternoon.  The new driveway looks great! <br /> Throughout the process, from estimation to completion of work, the crew was very pleasant.  Their price was the best among the companies that provided estimates to us. <br />"

"This was a great experience for tree removal. Jay came to our house and walked us through which trees and why they needed to be removed and while not the cheapest quote we received he was the most thorough and had the best customer service. We would use Chameleon Property service again for any lawn or tree project that we have."

"Mario was very responsive and called back right away and was able to come the next week and do the project. Our concrete steps and pad needed to be resurfaced and the masonry on the foundation needed to be redone. He did this spread out over about 3 days due the weather. I will hire him again for any other masonry jobs we have."

"Two years ago we went with a different company to re-pave a driveway on side of our house. The work was shoddy and I regretted not going with the Asphalt Doctor who also provided us with an estimate (their estimate was a little higher). This year we needed the main driveway paved and went with the Asphalt Doctor. The work was done on time and very well done. Driveway looks great. Definitely worth it."

"They missed chunks of lawn and didn't weed whack in corners of the house. The 2 young guys were very nice but wish I had checked the lawn before they left. Owner offered to have someone come back but my husband already went out an re-mowed, cleaned up. Received a bill for full amount of service..."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Clifton Park, NY

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
