"Fantastic experience. The entire process was easy and completed in 1/2 of the time quoted by the "big box" stores. Great prices, quality products and professional fabrication. My next project for M&R Marble and Granite is for a new bar top."

"Chris/CVM Carpentry did a great job converting a closet to a pantry. He took time to help me think through each step of the process, and made practical suggestions that helped give me what I wanted. He was punctual, fairly priced and I felt very comfortable working with him. Would definitely hire again."

"Overall, the installation was excellent. <br /> 1. They carefully measured the window openings. Five years ago another vendor did not measure carefully, and the windows installed then were the wrong size and never worked properly. This time it was done right. All the new windows were the proper size. <br /> 2. The framing and sheetrock work went without problems. The new support for the large windows appeared to be quite sturdy. You can't tell where anything was changed. <br /> 3. Installation was meticulous. After addressing the out-of-square condition of the openings, the installers then carefully insulated and sealed the spaces around the windows. <br /> 4. The installer was careful to minimize damage to the stucco when removing the old windows. The vinyl trim which spans the openings around the windows was sealed to the stucco to prevent leaks. <br /> 5. Demo involved cutting the mounting screws and sheetrock around the old windows. This created a lot of dust, and the installers held a vacuum next to the saw to minimize the dust in the house. They also cleaned up and vacuumed at the end of each day. <br /> 6. Results: The new windows look great and all work properly. All of the opening windows open smoothly. (This was not true of the <br /> previous replacements, which never were square and were a pain to open.) I can tell that my heat loss has been reduced.; the furnace runs less often on cold days. I take that as an indication that these are good windows properly installed. I am very pleased. I plan to use LT Construction for additional remodeling work."

"Paul Davis Restoration was sent out by our insurance company to do the emergency board-up after a vehicle hit our house and put a sizable hole in our master bedroom. Their professionalism and attention to detail in that phase lead us to tell the insurance company we wanted Paul Davis to do the repair as well. <br /> After all the insurance business was taken care of, the bulk of the reconstruction work only took a couple of days. The repair was expertly done and from the inside of the house, you cannot tell where the damage was. We are still waiting for the final repair work on the outside, but that's more about stucco curing time than their schedule. I expect that work to be quality as well. <br /> We are so happy with their services that we want them to give us an estimate and consultation when we're ready to remodel our kitchen and bathroom. <br />"

"Joe had to cut out part of the entry-way ceiling, replace it, plaster and paint over it.   If we didn't know exactly where the work was done we would never know it had been damaged and repaired.   Even though it was a very small job he treated it and us as if it was the most important thing on his schedule.  He also helped us figure out where a window was leaking, and sealed it so it doesn't leak anymore.  He was professional, efficient, cleaned up after himself and was very friendly too!  We plan to use him again for our next project. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Cochiti Lake, NM

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
