It seemed that no one wanted to be bothered with a small job. Then I had a phone call from Vance Thomas who was interested in helping me! We scheduled a time when he could here and check out the project. It turned out that 5 other deck boards also needed to be replaced. He gave me a very fair estimate, got all materials ready and the work was done yesterday! Sometime in August when the weather is dry, the deck will be painted by either me (or Vance if he agrees), and he'll then powerwash the deck and then seal it! "When I first contacted Haven Hardwoods, I spoke with Andrew's wife, who was very helpful and reassuring on the phone and said she'd have Andrew get back to me, which he did promptly later that evening.  I then sent him some photos of the mess that was completely stuck to our oak floors beneath the carpet and padding that we had in our LR/DR, and he assured me that the removal of the old, sticky padding was no problem.  This was after I talked to three other providers--one who never provided an estimate, one who wanted to charge an extra thousand dollars to remove the sticky padding on top of the regular refinishing costs, and one who took one look at the pics I sent and then said he didn't want the job.  Andrew quoted me a very fair price, much better than other quotes I received from the previous contractors I spoke with, and we scheduled a date to begin (March 23).  He went over with me how long the job would take and some other specifics, such as stain types and finishes.  The morning of the 23rd, he and his crew showed up promptly at 8:00, just as he said they would, and he provided a detailed invoice to my husband outlining the price per square foot and other specifics of the job.  By the time I got home from the work that day, the floors were sanded down to bare wood and they looked lovely, even with no finish, and had very few marks or stains.  Also, the guys made sure that plastic sheeting was hung over the kitchen entrances and the stairs/hallway, so that no dust would get into other areas of the house.  Over the next day and a half, Andrew and his crew applied the stain my husband and I chose and then applied the poly finish, and cleaned up all the dust and mess involved with the project.  Our floors look absolutely gorgeous--honestly, Andrew made this whole process streamlined and pain-free, and he delivered everything exactly as promised when we initially spoke and scheduled the job--right down to the estimate that he gave me.  Andrew responds in a timely manner to phone calls and emails, and he and his crew were punctual, professional, and delivered a fantastic finished product.  We're so thrilled to finally be able to have the hardwood floors that were hiding under old carpets.  Our whole second floor has hardwood under carpet as well, and when we decide to have the three bedrooms and hallway refinished, we won't need to vet a contractor because we've already decided that we'll be calling Haven Hardwoods. <br />"

"It went great. We purchased our home knowing the electrical was outdated. We hired ALR Construction to update our wiring for our whole home. They reran everything along with installing new gfci’s, and dimmer switches. They updated my electrical panel, and breakers. I also had them install a generator to power my whole home in case of a power outage since we live in a rural area. We also had them install and wire a whole home ring camera security system for a 360 degree view around our house. These guys are very professional and friendly. They did an amazing job. Through conversation I discovered Adam had built his house from the ground up and he showed me before and after pictures. I loved his work, and attention to detail. I ending up hiring them not only for upgrading our electrical which he specializes in but also to help remodel our kitchen. My wife and I couldn’t be happier. They replaced all our cabinetry, counter tops, installed a new sink/faucet, dishwasher(which we didn’t originally have), replaced our old counter top range, and wall mounted oven with a new stove. They installed led lights above our cabinets, and under. They also replaced the old linoleum flooring with wood look alike vinyl planks. These guys go above and beyond. Starting early, and staying late if needed. It wasn’t just a let’s throw it together and move on to the next job you’d get from a bigger company. "The Village Craftsmen / Bath Planet of Northeastern Ohio crew was professional and responsive to our last minute changes to the design. Considering these unplanned structural changes, the crew was easy to work with and the extra cost seemed more than reasonable. We chose to replace the existing built-in linen cabinet and vanity with new Bertch hickory cabinets and matching light bar, a Kohler two-door medicine cabinet to replace the wall-inset mirror, and Invictus vinyl flooring, all from Hartville Hardware. This one-stop shopping made it really easy to match the color of our pre-existing tile to what would be our new flooring and cabinets. All of that was $4,400 of the total cost of the bathroom remodel. These decisions and cost were done outside of Village Craftsmen involvement, however the installation of these items was included in the initial Village Craftsmen estimate. The wet area is a Bath Planet design with a bathtub with removable section for stepping through, and a shower with a spray hose. There are many enclosure patterns to choose from, which are picked out of a catalog when getting the initial estimate from the Bath Planet representative who came to our home. We also chose oil-rubbed bronze Moen fixtures and grab bars (Brantford style) that give the bathroom a very sophisticated look. The work for the demolition of cabinets, bulkheads and flooring, and replacing of the drywall, was done expertly and quickly. The Village Craftsmen assessed the condition of legacy pipes, and water-damaged floor, and replaced what needed to be replaced as par for the course -- not cutting corners, but doing it right the first time. The total cost was an initial down payment of $5,100 and another $6,400 at the end of the eight-day job. We are not do-it-yourselfers by any means, so we were happy to put the work into the experienced hands of the Village Craftsmen crew, who did an excellent job remodeling our bathroom. We couldn't be happier with the result and believe it was well worth the cost."
