"We had an addition put onto our house last year. There were endless delays, the project took much longer than estimated, and the equipment brought in tore up the yard and driveway. When cutting into the house the wall to my daughters bedroom and the living room were punched through and suffered water damage, which they magnanimously painted the one wall to cover. The yard and driveway were never addressed because it “isn’t part of the contract”. Hence, the outlet pipe for the sump pump was simply run about ten feet straight out from the house, a foot above ground. Speaking of which, the sump pump is pretty much UNDER THE BEDROOM FLOOR. The final straw for me was when I requested plain ceramic light fixtures in the closet, and was given shoddy, overpriced plastic fixtures, with the excuse being that the ceramic ones weren’t available anywhere. I’m not going to say that I was lied to, but it took me all of a trip to Walmart to find them, and replace them myself. When I presented the contractor with the cheap lights, I got a guilt trip about how he was going to have to eat the cost of them. Pity. Shortly after construction, I had an unrelated plumbing problem and contacted the plumber we used, and Apex demanded a cut before I could get the work done. Said it’s how he keeps his guys “loyal”. I ended up paying an extra $80ish for precisely nothing. So here I am, some 14 months later and still finding little problems cropping up and fixing them at my expense as they do. I’m not happy, but based on previous interactions, I guess ‘happy’ just wasn’t covered in the contract. To be fair, the overall construction is satisfactory I suppose. It looks nice and doesn’t creak in the high wind that we get here. The roof and windows don’t leak and the floors are solid, but on the other hand the walls and floor are cold as **** in winter (work was completed in summer, so who knew), and the pipes and air ducts are poorly (see also: not) insulated, which I didn’t even think was a thing. Hence, the entire section is more or less an icebox after November. Apparently I didn’t know enough to protect myself in this situation. Hindsight being 20/20, I would not use this company again."

"Justin Webb managed our overall exterior project, of which had three stages. Their prices were middle of the road, about average for each part, but used quality materials. I had never had a project this costly done all at one time, so I was anxious until it was completed. all The carpentry crew did a great job. Cleanup was 99% perfect. The only minor issue was that the dumpster and excess material sat in our driveway a couple of days longer than I would have liked and we were therefore unable to use our garage a bit longer. Small nuisance. We couldn't tell much about how it would look until stage two, which was full exterior painting, but we were very pleased. Justin is businesslike and was generally very responsive to my questions, concerns, and scheduling. The exterior painting crew was fantastic. Zero complaints. Very meticulous. The chief painter had some awesome suggestions when I had a vision of how I wanted something done or needed to achieve a specific effect. If you get Polo, count yourself lucky. I recommend paying a little more for Duration paint instead of Super paint from Sherwin Williams. That was suggested by our local paint store. It's much better paint for just a little more cost. The gutter team took a while to get here after the paint was done, but I'm not sure if that was due to their schedule or when Justin ordered the gutters. They were here and gone in a few hours for our single level home. I was somewhat annoyed that they showed up and left unannounced. Maybe they are used to working when no one is home, but I was here and had not expected them. We had permanent leaf guard installed as well as drip edge, which our idiot roofers neglected to do several years ago. The new gutters are big 6" wide ones now instead of our old 4" ones that sagged terribly. The gutters drain properly and we have an almost complete exterior makeover. Our house looks beautiful. Voilá! I am not the easiest person to please nor very trusting of contractors due to multiple bad experiences over a lifetime, sometimes with highly rated companies. However, I would not hesitate to recommend Aztec Homes for siding, painting, or gutters. They do use subs for some services, but that's how it's done these days. We saved a little money on the project by pressure washing the house, planning to install new faux shutters, and planning to paint two of the three exterior doors ourselves."

"I am probably one of the most skeptical, penny pinching, perfectionist people on the planet. I worked as a Quality control technician for 31 years for DOA. Waters Custon Exteriors met all my expectations i.e. cost, workmanship, quality of material, timeliness, & cleanliness. I was especially gratified by their patience & ability to keep me informed throughout the process. Thavis, & his family did an excellent job on both my chimney's & roof replacement. They were also very professional in adherence to the current coronavirus protocols. I am telling everyone I know about this company. And yes as you can tell I am extremely satisfied."

"It has been several months. Heard from David Mills several times, but he never carried out what he said would be done, which is take care of the small section above the garage door, that it appears the wrong style of caulk was used and wont hold the paint. This results in gray splotches showing on the finish. The original installation went off with absolutely no complaints, but when you need anything followed up on from there, it appears that you will never see David Mills again."

"Our brick ranch house was in need of TLC on the old fiber board siding, which my wife and I have painted four times ourselves. We wanted to make the exterior maintenance free with a good quality vinyl siding. We contacted five separate companies, four of which were listed in Angie’s list, to get estimates. We chose The Home Improvement Co. They were neither the highest nor the lowest estimate. We based our decision on the reviews in Angie’s list, pictures of the work that had been accomplished on other jobs, and Matt’s straight forward honest presentation. Matt convinced us that one of the most important details of this work is an experienced crew that knows how to work with the material. We had chosen the insulated backed vinyl siding. The crew (Kevin and Rueben) and Matt arrived Friday and started the demolition on the west side of the house. We were having all the old siding removed and replaced with new board, moisture barrier, and the vinyl siding. They completed that side including cleanup in one day. The whole job was completed by the following Friday. The crew was great. They were friendly and professional, and they worked well together as a team. They answered any question we had and honored any request we made. They also wrapped all the windows and doors with aluminum coil. They transformed the exterior of our home. We are completely satisfied. We comment to each other every time we pull into the driveway how good our home looks now. We still plan on replacement windows and a new back door. The Home Improvement Co. will be first on our list for consideration. Thank you, Matt, Kevin, and Rueben, for a job well done."
