Customers say: Quality work

"A foundation repair company wanted $6,000 to install a French drain that they were planning to have pop out in the middle of my side yard. Advantage showed up on time, put in a first-class French drain that exited further (at the drainage at my property boundary) for $2,650. We had record rains today. During the rain I went out and checked. The French drain was working like a champ!"

"The repair went very well. Devan was great. Arrived on time, very personable and professional. He listened, surveyed the problem and then presented options and costs for us to consider. We needed a new toilet. He performed the repair and cleaned up after himself. The repair was good, no further issues. We are very pleased and would hire C&W again. Devan's a keeper!"

I am a small contractor with over 40 years experience. We build stone walls, patios, concrete drives, walks and drainage systems. We have a diverse back ground in real estate and remodeling projects, both interior and exterior spaces. I am also a licensed irrigator so any changes in your sprinkler system will be done probably.

"They came on day one and dug the holes and poured the concrete. The men were very courteous. I was worried about the ones digging, as it is all dug by hand and it was roasting hot outside. I was not there when they finished for the day, but when I arrived home, I noticed PVC pipe in our yard from the sprinkling system. I called Amber (she rocks!), and she sent someone over that day to repair the pipe. It is normal for them to have to cut through the PVC, but I wasn't aware of that and they were not able to discuss what they did that day since I wasn't there at the completion. The following week, they sent another crew that did the lifting. This method is the most gentle on your house on the lift, as it only lifts once - - unlike the concrete pilings that use the weight of your home to pound the pilings in, so apparently the house goes up and down several times. I can't even imagine using that approach, as it sounds pretty scary when the lift actually occurs (popping, cracking noises). Noe, the lift supervisor, (really nice and great at explaining the process) came in several times to do measurements. He always took his shoes off so as not to track in dirt in the house. The great news is, they were able to close the expansion joint perfectly, and the ceiling crack closed significantly. So far, we don't have any additional cracks in the house. We did have quite a bit of cracking/large gaps in the mortar, especially at our entry arch where it is mostly cosmetic rather than structural. They have suggested waiting 90 days before we do any fixes. The lack of mortar looks pretty bad, so I don't know if I will be patient enough to wait that long :o). A plumbing assessment was completed the following day, and everything checked out fine. I'm pretty high maintenance in terms of wanting to know what is going on/when things will be done/what to expect, and Amber was awesome at answering all of my questions/calls/concerns (did I mention that she rocks!).

Another thing that impressed me about Brown was that most of the work crew that I interacted with had 15-20+ years of experience with Brown. That says alot about the company. As far as price, I can think of a lot more fun ways to spend $5,000 than lifting the foundation, but that being said, they were in the ballpark of the other estimates. Brown was a little more expensive per pier, but I felt like this is a better solution. Even though everyone has a lifetime warranty, it's a pain to have the work done, so their solution felt like I'll be less likely to need the warranty.

I've already recommended Brown to a friend of mine. The inspector measured and said that they didn't need to have work done, so she was also impressed with their honesty.

I'm anxious to see how it fares in 90 days, but they indicated that if we see anything concerning, they will come back out and remeasure/fix if needed."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Coppell, TX

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
