"I was please with the estimator, Boston's knowledge and willingness to walk me through the process and unfamiliar territory of basement waterproofing. He was very knowledgeable and answers so many questions, at the time of the walk through as well as in the days after when I had questions after receiving other bids and trying to compare them. In the end, it was just my low budget that kept me from going with Terra Firma. I thought their system was excellent, and would have worked well with my basement, but I had to opt for a less expensive design."

"The usual excellent job I have come to expect from Stutzman. Professional work from the estimate to the final inspection. Stutzman subcontracted with Willamette Valley Underground to bore a hole from the pumphouse to the target location, about 100 feet away, then pulled Schedule 40 PVC pipe back through the hole. They installed a really nice hydrant with a standard hose bib and tied it in to the PVC pipe, then attached the PVC pipe to the line from my well in the pumphouse. The person who came to provide the estimate was very detailed in what to expect, the office did an excellent job in coordinating, and the installation people were cheerful and professional. I'm very happy with the result."

"Perfect! I called DoneRite Plumbing about 11 a.m. The plumber arrived about 2 p.m., gave me three options (with a solid bid, including labor) and by 4 o'clock we had a new toilet installed and ready to use. The plumber (Erin) was polite, knowledgeable and neat. He tidied up after himself and removed the old toilet, along with the packaging etc for the new one. I will definitely call DoneRite again when I have plumbing needs."

"All of the roof vents were replaced before the fall rains started, and after a waiting period to make sure there were no more leaks, a skilled sub contractor (Lloyd) repaired the ceiling plaster indoors. We are very pleased with the results, and it was a pleasure to work with JC Unger. The price was reasonable, and the final bill was less than the original estimate. We would happily hire this company again."

"If you ever need any kind of plumbing resolution whether it be a minor or major problem, do not hesitate for even a minute to contact this company: Sewer Renewal Specialists out of Tigard, Oregon. I contacted them yesterday and am so grateful that I did. This company was phenomenal is diagnosing and fixing my plumbing problem which had caused a flood in my basement area. As busy as plumbers traditionally are on Monday mornings, the owner of the company himself, David Hefley, after listening to the desperation in my voice mail message, came to my house and immediately began to resolve the issue. I have never seen anyone move so quickly and purposefully to find and repair the problem so that my house could once again be completely restored for use of all plumbing. David is a smart, analytical person who works at lightning speed while being able to think, converse and act effectively to get the job done. He also has a great sense of humor, something that I think is an asset for the line of work he does! I bet there will come a time that most homeowners like myself will require the help of a professional plumber to step in and get a problem fixed. You don't have to look any further and just call this company. You will be happily relieved that you did."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Corvallis, OR

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
