"Aldo and the Team were phenomenal! They are consummate professionals. They moved everything, and put things back perfectly. Drying/curing time for two first floor rooms was about a week. The floors looked so beautiful, I was considering leaving the furniture in other rooms. LOL. Well done!!!"

Customers say: Quick response

"My husband and I are first time home owners so we were excited but nervous to find someone to do our floors and paint before we move in. Al was the first person we met for a quote interior paint and flooring and among all of them he was the most thorough, professional, detailed, and provided one of the most competitive quotes. Our daughter’s first birthday party at the house was scheduled the following weekend and Al, Jay, and the rest of the team got to work Monday 7AM and completed all the work in 4 days! The communication was unmatched and Al answered all our questions and addressed all our concerns within minutes. We ran into a little hiccup with our stairs and floor not matching as one was originally made of pine and the other made of red oak which made the finish look off, but Al gave us a solution right away and his approach to the problem made the stairway area our favorite part of the home. We look forward to working with Al in the future as we build in our new home. "

"First off I got the floor replaced. M&D Flooring did cut corners and charged me for the floor and didn't replace everything that I paid for. That is not right. I've reached to Gabe multiple times and there was always and excuse that I need a plumber to take the heating system out. Now I have a gap in the floor. Why didn't you just leave the floor in that area alone and be honest about it. Why didn't your men who were doing the job consult me before doing the floor. That is just wrong. I wish this issue was fixed instead of ghosting me and not replying to me. that is just wrong. I have not missed any payments requests. I am still waiting for the issue to be fixed, as I have paid a lot of money for supplies."

Small jobs welcome

"I recently had Jose and his team install hardwood floors in my home, and I could not be happier with their work. They paid great attention to detail, ensuring every aspect of the installation was perfect. Throughout the process, they communicated each step clearly and explained what they were doing, which made us feel very comfortable and informed. The quality of their work exceeded our expectations, and we were very satisfied with the results. I highly recommend Jose and his team for their professionalism."

"The contractor cuts corners on both materials and working time. My flooring area is about 3500 sqft which requires 7-8 gallons of sealer, however only 4 gallons of sealer were used ! As a result, the finish did not achieve the expected look. Aldo the business owner does not come to the job site other than collecting payment. He aggressively pushed for payment during the job, "

FAQs for wood flooring refinish projects in Cranford, NJ

The hardest wood floor finish is aluminum oxide, but it only comes on prefinished boards. If you want something durable you can add after installation, acid-cured is your best bet. The key to the longevity of any type of wood floor is a maintenance coat when a traffic pattern begins to show in high traffic areas.

Moisture-cured urethane is the most durable finish for homes with pets. However, It contains a lot of (VOCs) that can aggravate pets and people, especially at first. If you’re looking for a low-VOC alternative, water-based polyurethane is your best bet.

Bona sells several highly-rated polyurethane hardwood floor finish products, typically through small, local distributors. Brands like DuraSeal or Minwax also rank well for durability and ease of application. They are available at businesses such as Walmart and Amazon.

You have to seal unfinished hardwood floors to protect them from scratches and stains. The frequency depends on the type, but in general it’s ideal to refinish them between four and six times in their lifetime. This comes out to about every seven to 10 years.

Refinishing hardwood floors costs $1,100 to $2,400.

Wood stain adds a color to the surface. A finish adds a level of shine (e.g. matte, low-gloss, high-gloss) and seals the grain to protect against damage. Some companies, such as Minwax, offer products that do both at once.
