"Good communication, professional, courteous and clean up was thorough. We waited a few months before doing a rating to experience a few heavy rains. We are extremely happy with having a dry usable basement. We usually don't do ratings but All Ways Dry exceeded our expectations!"

"John and Miles were excellent workers. They were very polite and professional. The job they did supporting my sagging basement wall looks like it should take care of the problem. They placed steel plates against the basement wall, and also buried other ones out in the yard, and connected them with steel rods. Then they torqued them, which should prevent any further sagging of the wall."

"We initially hired Bluebird to waterproof and encapsulate our crawlspace. They did a great job and so we hired them again to repair some joists. Once again, the work was great. We did encounter an unexpected problem with an old sump line, but after sending an email to Bluebird, they were willing to come right out and fix the problem. I even spoke with the owner, Troy, and the way he handled the problem made me feel like a valued customer. There are always problems in home repair projects; the companies worth hiring are the ones who are quick to fix the problems. Bluebird is a company worth hiring."

"We went with another contractor who provided a written estimate/proposal when he came to see the issue. Mike gave us a quote over the phone. The price was similar to the contractor we went with, however, due to the fact that the contractor we went with came out to see the work, he discovered a rod hole leak that he will also repair. We now have fewer worries that the scope of work and the price will not escalate upon contractor arrival."

"The finished product (installation of drainage system/piping along the parameter of my basement) was done very well. However, I was told by the salesman (Bob) that the crew would remove the paneling before work commenced. I should have known that was too good to be true and questioned this but I didn't. The crew cut a foot of paneling off the bottom all the way around the basement parameter. If they didn't want to remove the paneling as promised, that's fine, I would have made arrangements to remove the paneling myself. Now I have to replace/cover all of the cut paneling, at an extra expense not anticipated (nor can I really afford). Also, at the end of day 2 the crew removed all of the protective plastic covering all of my furniture & everything in the basement, even though they had a whole entire day's worth of work still do complete the following day. They assured me that they wouldn't kick up any dust with the work that remained to be done. Totally not true. Dirt and dust all over my belongings. Plus there were a couple of little things that gave me pause (like forgetting to plug in the sump pump after they left on day 1 - the emergency alarm went off because it was going to overflow and I didn't know what was happening - I had to call a crew member on his cell phone to figure out what was going on - thank goodness I was home.) And they left a box of product in my garage that someone had to come back out to pick up a few days later. Everyone was super nice and polite, and I hate to complain about these things, but it was enough to leave me a bit disappointed."

"We thought we needed foundation work. They not only told us that was incorrect. They directed us to a structural engineer who would be able to help us. No charge. Most appreciated."

"I found TG Plumbing and Heating on Angie's List on Saturday 7/23 and sent an e-mail to the company asking if they could come out and look at my A/C unit. By 6PM that evening, the owner - Tom emailed me back and said that they could come out and repair the unit. On Sunday, I contact Tom again via e-mail and asked him when they might be able to come out and repair the unit. He indicated that his crew would be out on Monday! On Monday Zack came out on time and really knew his stuff. He checked out the A/C unit, added additional Freon, checked out my second unit with pressure gauges, and checked out both furnaces. The repair was completed quickly, Zack was professional and friendly, and all is well. I love the fact that I reported the issue via e-mail on Saturday and they fixed the problem first thing Monday! I now have an HVAC and plumber for life! Thanks Tom and team!"

"Had my parents temporarily living with me in my finished basement while their home was being built. The toilet in the basement would not drain and also began leaking from the base which was likely the result of my father's extensive (and unsuccessful plunging). Left a message with another well known drain cleaning company at 9:00 pm on a Friday night. After the call was not returned by 9:00 am the following morning, I decided to call All-Rooter. Left a message and Jerry called me back 30 seconds later. He apologized for missing my call, assessed my situation and said he would have someone over within two hours. Less than two hours later, Justin showed up. Justin removed the toilet, successfully cleared the blockage in the sewage line and reinstalled the toilet (along with new wax ring) faster than I could say "my weekend is salvaged". I could not have been more pleased with their attentiveness, knowledge and professionalism. I would recommend All Rooter to anyone."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Cross-village, MI

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
