"Dave Williams did a great job stretching our carpet that had been installed 6 years ago by Lowe's without being stretched properly. He fixed all of our wrinkles in 6 rooms. He showed up when he said he was coming and charged what he estimated even though he probably spent more time on it than he planned. He stayed until he knew we were satisfied with everything. I would definitely recommend him for stretching, fixing and installing your carpet."

"Rick and team were very responsive to our questions, and had significantly lower prices than some of their competitors. We did have to wait several months to get the project started, due to limited availability with their schedule. The hardwood floor installer, Dan, was an extremely hard and fast worker. We had experience with another company before, and compared to them, the team with Rick Short Flooring was a lot more efficient."

"They told us at our initial sit down that they would be sending a team out to our house to complete this install. The team was one person. Seemed like he would go in between different jobs along with ours. Only a few days were spent totally at our house. This is what dragged the install out. Nothing against the person that installed it the company needs to put more hands on deck. Had issues with stair steps breaking. Then they repair stair with warped board. Still currently waiting to get the stair corrected. We feel they were quick to take money but slow on fixing the issues. Photo attached is the warped board they placed on the stairs."

"Great company to work with. I am very picky about quality and cost of carpet, Karen took the time to help me pick out the best carpet to cover 3,000 square feet of our new home. The installer, Mike Beason and his team did a great job. They were professional, courteous and did an excellent job. This is my 8th house for carpet and this was one of the best teams I have worked with."

"The owner,  Mark, was more then pleasant and professional to work with. I am not his normal customer (not buying a new carpet) but he went out of his way to get me on the schedule so that I could get my basement back in order.  The two men who handled the install itself were very nice, knowledgeable, considerate, and pleasant.  My job was a bit harder to accomplish then a normal install since the existing carpet had to be moved to fit the pad under.  The price charged was reasonable for the size area150 sq yards. <br />"

"We were extreemly happy with this entire experience.  When we visited their store, they were very patient in showing us many types of flooring we could consider. Then they worked with us to find the best time for its installation.  The installer was very easy to work with and helped us with several extra items that made the installation even better than we had planned. We would highly recommend this firm. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Darlington, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
