"Responsiveness was excellent--from responding to request for estimate all the way to the actual paving. The graveling and grading was done when they said it would be done and they were also true to their word in keeping to the schedule for the paving. The crew was prompt, professional, efficient, super competent, and did a really nice high-quality job. The driveway looks terrific and I paid a reasonable price for it. I consulted many other companies, but they were invariably more expensive but without offering superior quality. Finks' Paving was the best choice and I wholeheartedly recommend them and would use them again if I moved and needed asphalt services again!"

"Old World Stone showroom is full of a wide variety of countertop finishes. I was able to take home a stack of samples to check for color compatability. I worked with Brian, he was very helpful and provided quick answers to all my questions. I ordered my quartz countertops, and they were installed in 2 weeks. They look beautiful, and I love the o'gee upgraded finish. <br />"

"Fritz is the owner and was simply a pleasure to work with. Right off the bat we appreciated his honest input and advice to save us money. He had the most reasonably priced bid and also the shortest timeline to start and finish the job. He was easily reachable by phone or text and always took the time to answer any questions we had. The whole thing went smoothly and without a hitch and was completed in three days time. Afterwards he even dropped off a bunch of his tools and wheelbarrow to use as we installed the landscaping stone ourselves.  <br /> We will definitely be working with him again as we are now planning a paved area with a fire pit in our backyard. Fritz showed us some of the ones his company installed and we immediately appreciated the designs and solid workmanship. <br />"

"My mailbox fell apart and could not be repaired. It needed a new post and everything. This occurred the first week of December and although the ground was not yet frozen, I was concerned that it could soon become frozen.  This is Wisconsin, after all. I called all the highly rated handyman providers, and they all were booked for at least two weeks and some were busy through January or February. I decided to take a chance on Property Image, even though they had only a few reviews. The entire process went really well. They could not set up an available date for three days or so, but they communicated with me so I knew they were coming. I also could not be there during the work, which was not a problem for them. They offered to buy a new mailbox for me, but I wanted to choose one myself. I bought one (they purchased a post), and left it on my front porch in the morning. I came home that evening and it was installed perfectly, just the right distance from the street, level and sturdy in the ground. The landscaping around the post looked like it was barely touched. They billed me about a week later. It all worked out and I love my new mailbox <br />"

"It turned out just fine. I don't know the cost because we had to use him because finally after waiting for 27 years, I got my sun room. I don't know. Everything was booked together. I wasn't the contractor, we hired a contractor. He did a really nice job. It wasn't his fault two days rained. It just wasn't his fault."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Deforest, WI

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
