"This is a great team to work with. James, the owner is friendly and accommodating. He was available throughout the entire project for questions and advice. Cory, the painter, pays attention to details, has expert advice on painting and making sure the accent colors stand out. I would hire them again."

"From initial emails to completion, everything was handled in a professional manner. David Jones was sincere enough to provide me with a basic quote from information I provided in an email (number of windows and window dimensions). Based on other research I did, this is unheard of. The estimate ended being VERY close to the actual project price. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Ok. So here's how it all went down. I researched local and regional window installers using Angie's list and the interwebs. As I mentioned above, I contacted David and got a wealth of information, including pricing estimates, financing options and product information. David was very forthcoming with information both via email and by phone. I was able to research the window manufacturer they work with to get an understanding of their products as well as what I was getting myself into pursuing this sort of project. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Whilst at the State Fair, I contacted another vendor in order to attempt to compare apples to apples. Wary of a prolonged dog and pony sales pitch, we invited this representative to our house to hear their presentation. At the very least, we would learn something. Although the meeting went for a l-o-o-o-ng 3 hours, we did indeed learn several things: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 1) much of the information about how replacement windows work, etc. that I had discovered whilst scouring the internet was confirmed; Theirs was a professional presentation and added to our understanding significantly. <br /> <br /> 2) for our application and our situation, the windows offered by the Window Broker would be more than adequate <br /> <br /> 3) compared to other vendors, including the one visiting our house, these windows, relatively speaking, were a bargain <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />We then had David over at our house. This meeting went about an hour or so. It was a much more low key presentation. Perhaps this is also because we had already communicated via email and the phone. The approach to sales was significantly different to the first vendor we dealt with (not meant as a negative - merely a contrast in styles). I ended up thinking that if you expected to learn windows 101, you might be disappointed. Because I tend to research things into the ground and had sat through a presentation for the previous vendor, this felt like a breath of fresh air to me and my wife. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />David emailed me papers the next day which I put completed and in the mail. One of his workers arranged a time to come over to do more precise measurements at a time that was convenient for me. About two weeks prior to installation, I called the Window Broker to see when installation would be scheduled as we were coming up on the holiday season. I left a message and someone got back to me immediately to schedule a time to our mutual benefit. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Two crews were dispatched to our home to perform the installation. They were friendly and professional and worked all day. They spent a significant amount of time outside (fortunately. the weather was good until near the end) finishing the installation. They cleaned up well after themselves - given the amount of debris that came out of the house and I could see in the back yard, you wouldn't know they were there afterwards. My wife looked at the installation from the back yard and was very pleased. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The windows we opted for are vinyl. As such, they are a little and quot;bulkierand quot; than our previous wood windows. We have already adjusted to this, but it should be noted as it is a difference. We opted for triple panes, as this was a and quot;free upgradeand quot; offered at the time - of course we would take it. A month in to having the windows, they seem to be working as advertised. I can't speak to energy efficiency as we still have a lot of leaky windows where the heat can escape. However, these windows, as one would expect, are significantly quieter than the previous ones. Also, no outside air infiltration whatsoever. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />My only regret is that I have another 18 or so windows to eventually replace. OUCH!! <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Ok. I realize this was long. Would I work with the Window Broker again and am I pleased with the windows and service? To all parts of the question I offer an unequivocal 'Yes'. Once these windows have been paid off, I plan to continue replacing. I think the windows we purchased are of good quality, the prices reasonable, the service solid and the installation professional. When making investments in one's home you can't ask for more. There are no doubt other fine companies that install quality replacement windows in the Southern Tier of New York. I feel fortunate that we did our business with the Window Broker, <br />"

"The crew arrived and started the work at the time agreed. When the old roofing was almost removed, the foreman of the crew, Dave Cook, approached me to show the condition of the old roof base. I knew that we may have to address that after years of small leaks that had occurred. Dave told me what my options were and how they would affect the long term results and we decided to lay down a new decking over the existing one. I was promptly quoted a price and put in touch with Becca at the office to authorize the Change Order. I had to leave for work after that feeling the I was in good hands. When I came home from work the new decking was almost completely installed and the base layer was soon to follow. I saw how careful the base layer was rolled out to eliminate any creases. It was getting late and the forecast was for rain to come in later that night. Dave told me that they would stay until either finished or at least the roof would be flashed and water tight. When it got dark, we found some headlights for the guys to were so that they could see well enough. The roof was made water tight with one bit of roofing to be adhered. There was not enough flashing in the trailer to finish without a seam and Dave wanted to finish it with a single piece. I agreed. The weather turned to rain and clod for the next week and was not able to finish until the following wee. During that time either Dave or Becca would contact me every day to let me know what the plans were so that I was not in the dark. I really appreciated that. Overall my wife and I are very please with the professionalism, quality of work, cleanup, and communication. We will definitely use them again and recommend the to anyone."

"The repairs were completed very quickly and the work was performed carefully to insure that the leak was properly repaired. The company responded to my call within 2 hrs. I liked the fact the the contractor has a large supply of parts to eliminate trips for missing repair parts. Hrs charged were very fair. Will definitely use again."

"I never got the estimate. I called the office 3 times leaving messages trying to connect. Each time their estimator had just stepped out. He returned two calls leaving voicemails on my phone, but never returned my 3rd call. I was disappointed because I understood Howard's is topnotch."

"Working with Aurora Stone's owners was a breeze. I had looked at Angie's List last (no idea why!) when I was on the search for countertops to go with our new cabinets. I had estimates from at least 4 other companies in the local area. I was disatisfied with a few company's lack of customer skills and even though they had the product I wanted, I was not comfortable investing $3000-$4000 in a company that didn't deserve my business. This was one of the reasons I was elated to find Sandy and her crew! <br /> She was very flexible with the meeting time as we had to go with our 18 month old and on a Saturday. The meeting was great and we picked out our stone on the spot and got the quote we wanted. I'll mention another reason I chose Aurora Stone: I was extremely honored and appreciative that they offered a Military discount. This 10% got the price down to our budget and we were very surprised to see the number even close to where we needed it as it seemed like Aurora offered a more superior product (1st cut premium grade granite) plus stellar customer service.  <br /> We had the contract all set and deposit made a few weeks before the template as we installed the cabinets. The template was done 2 days after the cabinets were done (I was hoping for same day template because we called ahead but that didn't happen, which is understandable.) Template was easy and crew was respectful and very knowledgeable. <br /> Counter was installed earlier than scheduled (which was great!) the following Wednesday after the template (which was the Friday before.) Install took less than 2 hours and the crew was, again, polite, respectful, and did a terrific job. There's one seam towards the corner and it's hardly visible.  <br /> We would work with Aurora Stone again in the future for sure and have been so happy with our results and overall interactions with this company. The countertops themselves, are amazing and much better than the previous laminate. I look forward to using them and taking great care of the natural stone. Thanks again! <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Dryden, NY

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
