"North Peak did an excellent job. I am very happy with how wonderful my yard looks now that they did the fall cleanup. I would definitely recommend them. Price was very reasonable, I will definitely hire them again for my landscaping needs."

"We contacted several asphalt companies for estimates, and when Richard arrived for the estimate to remove our existing driveway and install a new one; We were confident that A Plus Paving was the right Company to hire. Richard and His Crew accomplished every task stated in the estimate in a Timely and Professional manner. The cost was very reasonable. We will hire A Plus back next year to install a Seal Coating on our new driveway. We Highly Recommend A Plus Paving for Your Residential or Commercial needs. Sincerely, Mark R., Haverhill, MA"

"Joe Deprimeo, the owner, worked side by side with his crew from excavating the old driveway to raking the hot fresh asphalt. Everyone, especially Joe, was enthusiastic and professional. Throughout the job, which was inherently messy, the team managed to keep the surrounding area clean and safe. Joe voluntarily had his crew replace nearly 20 feet of the adjacent crumbling asphalt sidewalk at no charge, taking pains not to harm the large tree roots that passed underneath. I daresay a low-slung race car can now use the driveway without bottoming out. No one could have done a better job."

"Working with Marcelo and team was excellent throughout the process. When working through the initial estimate Marcelo was very helpful in describing the options I had for replacing my front walkway and back patio. The Madrona Brothers' estimate was competitive with other estimates I received. Marcelo was on site every morning to walk through the project with me and answer any questions I may have had. His team also dug a trench and worked with the plumbers to run a gas line for the fire pit which provided some unanticipated challenges which they were able to work through. Marcelo's team took care of every aspect of the job from raising some existing steps, leveling an existing kitchen set, redoing some heads on the sprinkler system, and reconnecting downspouts. Marcelo was also on site to provide quality control and identified that some of the wall caps were not up to standard and requested the supplier replace them. Marcelo also traveled to a fireplace store 45 minutes away to purchase additional hardware needed for the fireplace burner. They oversaw every aspect of the job and did so without consistently adding small charges along the way if items which required additional labor or materials cropped up. The finished product is nothing short of outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend them to others."

"We were thoroughly impressed with A Yard and A Half and have recommended them to others who have had equally positive experiences. We had a complex and large project complete with multiple hardscape features (new driveway with pavers, stone wall and paths, peastone vegetable area, brick porch repointing and the placing of boulders on the property, installation of a trellis) and planting of many trees, shrubs, and ground cover. Their work was impeccable, and they were thoroughly invested in ensuring that we were completely satisfied. The crew was incredibly hard working, reliable, friendly, and invested. Considering our sizable investment in materials and plants, we appreciated working with a crew who were so skilled at their craft and dedicated to our vision. We would recommend them without reservation!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Dunbarton, NH

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
