"I solicited estimates from six landscaping companies and got three replies.  The estimate from DiPhillipo's was in the mid-range of prices quoted.  After the the offer was accepted, DiPhillipo's gave us an estimated start date and the work was started on schedule.  Only glitch was a rain storm that delayed the completion by 1/2 day.  Otherwise, the job went smoothly and we were very satisfied with the results.  <br> <br>The crew were very courteous, professional and well-trained.  The clean-up was very thorough.  There was minimal collateral damage to the yard because they did all the work manually without having to run a backhoe or Bobcat on our lawn, which we really appreciated. <br> <br>Some of the green giant arbs were somewhat smaller than what had been planned, so DiPhillipo's gave us a discount on the smaller trees.  Our neighbors commented on how well the results turned out, and one asked for their business card.  We would certainly recommend DiPhillipo's and would hire them in the future. <br>"

"Mark Harrison, the owner, was great to work with. He was present at the job site, patient with questions, true his word arriving on time and completing the job as scheduled. The men who worked for him were excellent and cleaned up after themselves before leaving. I had my driveway repaved and sealed, and a brick walkway installed where a cement walkway had been. I also had a new concrete skirt poured at the garage entrance. I am very happy with the results. I would highly recommend Productive Asphalt."

"This is the second time we've hired John. He's responsive, punctual and very easy to work with. He cleans the work area daily and his work is impeccable. Before installation of the brick, he had to remove a Corian backsplash. This was his first brick backsplash and we couldn't be happier. In terms of cost, I couldn't tell you if he's high, low or average because he's' the only person I called. Also, the first time we hired him, about 4 years ago, he installed a porcelain tile floor which garners compliments all the time."

"DIO Construction did a great job on our project. They poured concrete steps, a patio with a large sidewalk, and an apron and sidewalk at the street. They also repaired some stone walls. A couple weeks later they came back and paved a 150 foot driveway that adjoined the new concrete. I showed Anthony a drawing of the concrete work we wanted and he made it just like the drawing, right down to the inch. The concrete work is excellent. I expect it to last much longer than we will. During the concrete work there was an unexpected complication. A specialist from outside their company was on the scene within an hour. The problem was resolved the following day with no delay to the project. Anthony recommended a different contractor for the railing for the new steps. That contractor was responsive, fair, and did a beautiful custom job. The day the old blacktop was removed, it was done in a nearly surgical manner. The new blacktop was put down in the same way. The team always showed up when they said they would and maintained good communication. Anthony was patient with all my questions and limited any inconveniences to the absolute minimum possible. Thank you very much!"

"G&B recently completed a driveway, sidewalks and patio with fire pit for us and it turned out beautifully. George offered several helpful suggestions for choosing the right color and stamping pattern to really tie the project in with the house. These extra details are why we chose G&B above the others. The crew was prompt on completing the projects as well as courteous and mindful of our neighbors during the job. Highly, highly recommend for any concrete needs."

"I had some reservations, it would be an ?A-?on this one, but I?ll still give them an ?A?. The only reservations that I had on this last one was the fact that the quality of the work on that one seemed to have shown that they were in a little bit of a hurry. Like there is a crack in one part of the cement that shouldn?t be there, but I have just been so busy that I just haven?t gotten around to calling them back on it. <br /> <br /> So, I?ll take reasonability for that, but they did the front driveway with absolutely no problem. They also extended my driveway. I have actually had them three times. <br /> That?s why I hesitated and I said, I would give them an ?A- ?, was because the first 2 times were excellent, and I don?t really know what happened with the third one. I still plan on calling them back to seal it, so at the time that I call them back to seal the driveway, I?m going to talk to them about the crack in the patio."

"<p>The job went pretty well although flagstone is expensive and for 6 windows it cost us $900.  This was done because the original builder of our house did not tilt the brick sills on the outside of our windows downward so that over time the rain collected under the wood base of our windows and rotted and warped them.  We are in the process of replacing the windows.  The flagstones are laid over the brick and tilted downward.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>A big concern I have is whether the flagstone is too thick to now let the screens swing outward for removal on the new windows.  We won't know until the windows are in and we are awaiting good weather to have them installed.</p> <p>  </p> <p>Phil Yanni did a good job but it was costly and I don't even know if this will actually work with the new windows.</p> <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in East Greenville, PA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
