"Home Systems Appliance Repair did an excellent repair on my 18 year old panel-ready 42 inch Built-In counter depth GE Profile Refrigerator. The original GE tech who looked at the leak in the freezer evaporator a year ago, told me the refrigerator was non repairable because the "vacuum pump" retrofit part it needed was no longer available. After paying his $200 visit fee for a 2 minute consultation, he offered me a discount on a new GE refrigerator to fit which had not been built yet. Fast forward to now, GE does have 42 inch built-in counter depth Monogram side-by-side for $12,000 and $2,000 of Kraftmaid panels. Home Systems Appliance Repair cost me $400 to identify and fix a broken heat transfer tab in the freezer evaporator unit. I saved $15,000 - - not bad for paying Appliance Repair for a 2 hour job. They seriously looked and found the problem. I highly recommend Manny (the tech who did the work), and Home Systems Appliance Repair. Susan"

Customers say: True professional

"Very professional and efficient. Arrived timely, very knowledgeable, and efficiently repaired appliance. Our General Electric large refrigerator was not properly cooling. Found door leakage, ordered the part, and returned to replace the seal. No markup on the part, no added time to repair - entire transaction was very fair. Could not ask for a better experience."

"Within an hour of purchasing the advertised special, Henry from B A R called us to set up an appointment for service. He seemed knowledgeable and showed up promptly to our appointed time. After working on the unit for about an hour he determined that the unit had died and there was no hope reviving it - it was 14 years old after all. WIthin a few days Henry was back and installed our new unit. Around the time he installed our unit, our second unit died. We had him replace it as well. The work was done in a timely manner and we have been completely satisfied. We would definitely hire B A R Appliances again for our HVAC needs."

"I've been very well satisfied with them.  You give them a contract, so much a month depending on if you have your heat pumps, hot water heater, or whatever, and then they come out and they set it for the season.  They give it season checks, and sometimes they put freon on it, and sometimes they do a lot of repairs and stuff, and you don't have to pay anything for the repairs.  I think I have two heat pumps and a hot water heater and I think it's like $40 a month, but I've come out ahead every year.  It's been pretty good.  I call them on the phone and then they just send people out.  Actually, it's two different contracts; one is for heat pumps and the water heater and I have the another one for electric and plumbing.  They came out for the heat pump.  The heat pump outside didn't come on and so it was using the furnace heat and they fixed that, and they were gonna replace the part, and for some reason they didn't come out and fix that the next day, and I haven't got around to having them fix that.  They were supposed to come out the 13th to replace a part that was gonna stop the problem from happening again.  Although they fixed it temporarily, it wasn't permanently fixed and they didn't come out the 13th.  You call them up and if you have priority service, then they come out very quickly.   The BGE heat pump thing, I've had that for several years but the plumbing thing was new.  I wasn't real excited with the fact that they didn't come back the next day, but over the years they have been super.  The guy that came out last time, I think he was newer so he kept calling up somebody to make sure he was doing stuff right.  He ended up doing what he had to do fine, it was just that they didn't come back out.  If I had to grade overall, I would recommend them because they've come out, they've saved me a lot of money fixing all sorts of stuff - keeping an old heat pump I had which was over twenty years old - kept it going for several years, but I replaced that this Fall, and they gave me tremendous discounts for getting a new system put in.  When they were supposed to come back, they said it might be two and a half to four hours to replace this part because it's a big deal, but to replace the actual part, unless it was covered I might have to pay $200 for the part, but all the labor and stuff would be free.  For price for the heat pump I have to give them an A because I pay them up front monthly and I don't pay them anything when they come out.  They've saved me a lot of money over several years I've been with them, so I think I've come out ahead.  Except for the fact that they didn't come out this last Thursday, I've been very satisfied with BGE Home, the heat pump system thing.  I can't say I've been overly happy with the plumbing part.  They came out this last time and they did a real nice job; they also came out one time and replaced the toilet, just a super job.  But about a year or so ago, I had about three or four things I wanted them to do, and I wasn't here again, and he gave reasons to my wife why he couldn't do any of this stuff.  Like I wanted to replace the garbage disposal and he said that something was wrong with the way the pipe was draining and he couldn't fix it, it was clogged or something.  I had unclogged that - I don't know what that was about.  I wanted to replace a filter downstairs and he had a reason why we had to replace the whole water system just to replace this little filter and it wouldn't have done any good.  It was about three or four things; that wasn't real good.  He got the garbage disposal working that was in there, but he didn't replace it like I wanted, so I had to have it replaced a few months later because it needed to be replaced.  Regarding the heat pump, the initial response was just fine.  I called them one day, I picked a day for them to come out, they came that day and he got it working again, which was great. But then they were supposed to come out the next day to replace the part and that never happened, and although they never called - they were supposed to call 20 minutes ahead of time - it worked out fine because it was from 7:30 to 5:00 and we had an emergency come up and we had to leave at 4:00 anyway; but they never called so they didn't come, actually, but we couldn't have stuck around anyhow.  For responsiveness over the years I'd give them an A.  The 12th they were fine - it's just that they didn't come back the 13th to finish it up.  Honestly it doesn't really matter to me too much because we had to leave; a family emergency came up, so the fact that they didn't come worked out okay for me.  It didn't bother me a bit.  What they do, they give you a range of time and then they call you 20 minutes ahead; so that's an A.  It was what they told me it would be.  They've always been real good.  He even puts stuff on his shoes when he comes inside to cover his feet, kind of a baggie around the foot.

"The short version of the review is: we had a great experience working with Mega Kitchen and Bath, are very happy with our new kitchen, and feel the price was fair. The long version is below. My wife and I decided back in March that it was finally time to renovate our home's kitchen which had changed little since the house was constructed in 1965. After looking at reviews on Angie's list we reached out to four contractors, including Mega Kitchen and Bath, to discuss the project and get quotes. The designer from Mega, Sever, was great to work with and came up with a great design. He was very responsive to our questions and was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. In the end, the quote from Mega was very competitive and the design was great, so we signed the contract to work with them. By this point it was October as we really took our time finalizing our plans. Sever was extremely patient and was never pushy or pressuring. After signing the contract we started to work with Ibrahim who managed the project, and the work began in early November. The workers were very competent and took care to put drops all around the work area to contain the mess. Whenever an issue came up it was always addressed either by asking the workers themselves or calling Ibrahim. Overall the work went well, but there were a couple of delays having to do with issues regarding cabinet order (which had to change after discovering a hidden layout issue after the demolition), difficulty finding siding that matched the existing old siding on our house, and inspection schedules. In the end the work took about three weeks longer than projected to get us to the point were we could use the kitchen, and a few weeks beyond that to finalize everything. The delays were all understandable and not too bad for a project like this, but communication about schedule changes could have been a little better. Nevertheless, this was only a relatively minor complaint, and the work was quite nice on the whole. Also the project stayed on budget which was great. The bottom line is we are VERY happy with our new kitchen. It is a dramatic improvement from what we had before. Mega Kitchen & Bath did an excellent job in the design and construction. They delivered quality work for a fair price and we will definitely contact them again for future projects."

FAQs for appliance (major electric appliance) installation and replacement projects in Edgewater, MD

A pro starts by setting the units in place and connecting them to the right plumbing lines, electrical circuits, and, for the dryer, a vent. If the hookups already exist, the job is quick. When they don’t, the installer must add plumbing, outlets, or a vent run, which takes more time and increases the price, especially when the laundry area is located far from existing utilities.

You’ll need the right pros for a tight stacked setup. A natural-gas plumber handles the water lines, drain, and any gas work, while an electrician installs the circuit the dryer needs. If venting or framing changes are required, hire a general contractor to patch the drywall or adjust the framing so that everything meets code and operates safely.

Permanent models need complete plumbing, electrical, and—for dryers—vent hookups. Portable units skip most of that and can run on a standard outlet with a temporary water connection. If your home already has a code-approved hookup, you just connect the new appliances. If not, hire a licensed pro to add the lines and vent so the machines run safely and efficiently.

Relocating a hookup costs between $500 and $5,000, as it may involve installing new outlets, gas lines, vents, and drain pipes. The price increases when the new location is far from existing utilities or requires additional framing and drywall work. Have licensed professionals evaluate your layout, provide a quote for the move, and handle the installation so that every component meets code and works safely.
