"The Gentleman called me back quickly(not accustomed to that with contractors). Greg came out to do an estimate It wasnt the highest bid, but wasn't the lowest either. In my experience, the lowest bid usually results in the lowest quality of workmanship. I rolled the dice with Atlas because communication was great, he showed up when he said he would for the estimate( good start), he was straightforward and assured me they would be in and out. The crew was at my home shortly thereafter and took off the old shingles. They put in an all-day shift and cleaned up afterwards(again I wasn't accustomed to a contractor cleaning up a mess). The new shingles were installed and once again they worked straight through and got the job done. In and out without a trace, except for a new roof. No nails in my yard, no old shingles hiding in the shrubbery, no cigerette butts, etc. it was Professionally done! I don't think I will need a new roof in my lifetime but If I did I would hire Atlas again. I would certainly recommend them to a friend."

"The apartment had not been painted for at least 26 years.It was in poor condition and needed extensive prep work. They got a very good result. After the job was done the apartment looked like a different place.
Because of the age of the condo, I was concerned about lead. One reason I had the job done by Ultimate Custom Painting is that Rick, the owner, seemed to take this concern seriously. Their website and their page on Angie's list both emphasize  environmental issues, including lead. Their contract with me included the language "All products used will be Green Sure Low/No VOC products. All lead based paint will be removed/contained. Project work will be done under EPA Lead Standards and will be cleaned to RRP Lead cleaning verification standards."
Most of my dealings with Ultimate Custom Painting were with Dan DePriest, who was the job supervisor and a perfectionist. Before starting the job, Dan walked through the apartment with me and called attention to defects that he said would be fixed. (They were indeed fixed by the time the job was done.) In the pantry, Dan pointed out how dirty the cabinet shelves and the insides of the drawers were. They were filthy as a matter of fact, and sticky, probably because of glue residue from some old shelving paper. Dan offered to have them scrubbed (at additional cost). I agreed to this, and am glad I did because I don't think anybody else would have done as good a job.
Each window in the apartment has two brass handles that were black from age. The painters removed this hardware, cleaned and polished it and replaced it. There were 22 of these handles (11 windows), so this must have taken a lot of time. By the way, Dan told me ahead of time that they were going to do this. Some people might have wanted the handles to look 100 years old, but not me. I think they probably look now the way they looked 100 years ago. They also removed, cleaned and polished the cabinet handles and the drawer pulls in the kitchen. I think these things were above and beyond the call of duty. At any rate, I didn't expect them.
When the job was done, the apartment was cleaner than it was when they started. They cleaned up a lot of paint splatters from the woodwork that previous painters (26 or more years ago) had left.
