"Maurizio was first to give us a quote which was competitive. He is a professional and a hard worker. He did our 1200 sq feet backyard patio leveled the land and now our backyard looks like an oasis. He also installed steps, two small retaining walls and pool coping. Any problem was dealt in a professional and timely manner. I would recommend Maurizio to anybody who is doing the patio pavers."

"It went very well. It was a pleasure to work with the owners, Carlos & Paola, as well as the workers who worked diligently for long hours. The driveway was ripped up and installed in one day and their work was impeccable. My husband actually inspects municipal paving jobs as part of his job so he more or less was able to observe their work. They did everything correctly and we are very pleased with the results. The Belgian block paving was done on a separate day as we added that on to the work order a day or two later. The curbing looks great and greatly improved the curb appeal of our home. We had the work done in April of 2019. We highly recommend Mata Paving & More and we also found their pricing to be quite affordable."

"Had used another company previously but was looking to change to another company. Found SealPro on this site, and after reading some reviews and checking their site I called and asked a few follow up questions. Satisfied with the answers I retained SealPro. There price was competitive with what I previously paid, but I can't say if the price was high, low or just right since I didn't get other estimates. Had to wait a while for them to schedule me, and that happened only when I called to inquire as to when they might be coming. I was told that due to the amount of rain they were a bit backed up (reasonable answer) and they could actually schedule me in a couple of days. They showed up on time, worked quickly and cleanly, and the driveway looks as good as one could hope for given what sealing does. The few questions I had when they were on site were answered well, and I felt very comfortable with my choice. Just have to manage your expectations because there were a few imperfections and I actually consulted someone I know out of state who explained to me what causes those imperfections, in that sealing is not a resurfacing and imperfections that were there previously sometimes become more noticeable with a fresh application of sealant."

"Found this company on yelp and after meeting with a few other contractors we decided to go with them based on peer reviews and pricing. We initially just wanted to have some ac sleeves removed and bricked up since we were planning to upgrade to ductless ac but after meeting with Kamran we decided to get our flat roof refinished as well. They showed up on time and completed the work quickly, while they have had great reviews in the past years I feel that either I am expecting too much or their workmanship is no longer the same as before. I will let the pictures do the talking."

"It's been 10 years since MC installed my concrete and it still looks amazing. I recently asked Tony touch up the silicone joints in certain areas that got beaten up from the weather and his response was great. Repaired like new. The overall job back in 2008 was absolutely amazing, he hires only the best masons of course, who know nothing but perfection. The equipment is top of the line and his management of the job is the best. He oversees the entire project to ensure its done absolutely perfect from start to finish. Usually done within one day your property gets a much needed face-lift by the mid to late afternoon. Please understand that the level of service is amazing, not rushed, the crew along with trucks and equipment arrive ready to work and transition your worn cracked old concrete into a stunning new pitch perfect masterpiece, with the MezzaCappa Swirl! Rock solid indeed. You're not likely to find a service that can meet his level of performance, quality and PRICE! I highly recommend you consider and book MC for your concrete, stone, and masonry work, you will not be disappointed!"

"We purchased a house that was 20 years old. We needed our concrete walkway repaired, as it sank over a period of several years, leaving the distance between steps as a safety hazard. Brian and his crew assessed the situation and did an amazing job. Besides replacing the entire concrete walkway, they also installed a railing. They did another railing in the back of the house and installed a new mailbox as well. 2 days in and we've had many compliments on both the mailbox and walkway. Another neighbor has already asked if HMD is willing to do their mailbox. No job to small (or big, as I believe they're used to doing much larger jobs in the metro area). They also kept our property and surrounding area clean. They loaded equipment and materials in and out, and it was a "busy site" for a couple of days, but when they cleaned up, you would never know they were there, except for the quality craftsmanship they left behind. The front of our house looks better than ever."

"MC Home did an incredible job customizing our new home. We found them August 2020, moved into the house October 2020 and began work in November. The crew was a delight to have at the house everyday while we were home working, of course noisy with the demo but we made it work! Availability for materials/doors/windows delayed the project at times which was out of their control. Word of advice during home remodel during Covid, don't delay decision making! Eric did a great job explaining things that we didn't know or other ways to think of how to build/style. The sunroom is hands down our favorite room in the house. The fireplace needed a makeover - MC Home gave some great suggestions on trim/moulding styles and it was done in a week. Overall, I appreciated the time Eric and the team took to make sure we understood the process and keeping us in the loop as it progressed each week. Project costs were reasonable and in line with industry standard. We'll definitely recommend them to friends/family and use MC Home in the future!"

"Despite Jamar’s consistently great reviews I was a little apprehensive of the whole project: all 19(!) windows need to be replaced, will it require an extensive painting project afterword? How will it look outside? We could not be happier with the outcome of the project. The windows look great inside the house and outside. Even though we choose the narrow windows frames, after they were masterfully installed it only required several touch ups here and there (if you really picky). During the project, the rooms the guys have worked in were always left clean, the equipment was neatly stored. But it didn’t stop there! They also helped us solve the roof leaking problem and replaced several damaged siding planks around 2 windows. Thank you Jim, Greg and the whole crew. If we ever need siding or/and front door replacements we know who will we call. ?"

"I have to  say that I called 23 contractors before I got to this one.  All were no answer, no show or unreliable.  In one case the contractor could not add the handrail.  I was in no mood for fooling around by the time I interviewed the BCS representative.  He reassured me that his was a reliable company and gave me a handwritten estimate which was very clear and attentive to detail.  When the crew arrived to begin the work, the boss provided a copy of his license and insurance before beginning and gave me the formal contract. It outlined the job accurately, gave a rough timeline for the work and a guarantee of materials for a year.  It included my right as a consumer to cancel within the stipulated amount of time in my state.  This contractor used his own crew and no subcontractors were hired.  He did purchase the handrail from a fabricator.  The BCS crew was courteous and worked through some bad weather.  The owner and son-in-law were friendly and courteous as well.  The new stoop looks better than the rest of my house!  I definitely plan to use this contractor again. <br />"

"Anthony was responsive to my request for a quote, as well as responsive whenever I contacted him via phone or text when I needed to communicate with him. After evaluating the job and providing an estimate, I hired him. The work was completed ... took longer than we had anticipated because of the wet summer we've had...but that's no one's fault but Mother Nature! Very pleased with the job and workmanship. Will have him return next year to do some exterior masonry work."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Elizabeth, NJ

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
