We recently purchased a 2nd home on Lake James with an exterior that is 100% cedar.  The exterior was in serious need of cleaning and re-staining.  It had not been maintained; and, had a significant amount of mold staining and several areas of the trim had the original finish peeling off.

We contracted with Mike and Crystal to prep and re-stain the exterior of our home.  Throughout the process, Mike demonstrated thoroughness, competency and responsibility.  Mike and Crystal took personal responsibility to ensure they delivered a quality product.  Mike kept his commitments and did not compromise his work product even when faced with the stripping process taking more time than he expected.  He completed the project per the schedule he committed.

Mike demonstrated a high attention to detail in the finishing process and ensured the project was completed to my satisfaction.  The home looks beautiful...we could not be happier.

I solicited bids from several paint contractors and evaluated several before selecting Mike.  His pricing was very competitive versus several other contractors; but, I never observed where Mike cut corners.

I would definitely recommend MIke's Painting and will plan to use Mike again when we have painting needs.

"Haley Hahn arrived on time and quickly cleaned out the gutters. While on site they also gave a rough quote of replacing my existing gutters with new larger sized gutters & downspouts plus adding gutter guards as well. I will definitely have them replace the gutters in another year or so's time."

"Our is 2.5 storey and steep roof. Owner visited and without getting on roof told me that you need to replace 2 flashings. The house is 9 years old and according to him ( I am not sure) it is better to replace flashing after 10-12 years any way. I think flashing should have same about 30 years life of roof. However, I accepted the recommendation as cost was $150. Also, I don't think they inspected or did anything on other side of the roof. He sent Brian in the following week to carry out work. Brian is really hardworking honest guy. He spent about 4 hours on roof to replace flashing and nail down singhles on one side of roof. I was not happy since they didn't even look at other side of roof. Since my $200 +79 was worth their effort of 4 hours I am OK with the service provided. However, I felt that they are giving this deal to generate more business. and chnging of flushing was not necessary. Anyway I was happy with Brian and hence I am giving A other wise I would have given B."

"Tom did an excellent job on several large projects. After I initially contacted him, he got back to me right away and gave me very reasonable quotes for work he could begin the very next week. He worked efficiently, professionally, and skillfully in completing a total remodel of my bathroom, which had serious structural issues. "I called on Craftsman Direct for help with a rescued kitten! She always wants to be up high, so I needed to find some safe ways for her to do that. I called Craftsman Direct right smack in the middle of the Christmas/New Year holidays to install some shelving on my walls. Lee responded to me immediately and came out to do a free estimate shortly thereafter. Lee was very patient with me, as I wasn?t exactly sure what I needed. As an avid animal lover, he understood my kitty?s wants perfectly, and as important, he understood how the shelves needed to be installed to ensure their stability.
I received my detailed quote the next day, which incorporated necessary items I had not thought to ask for--and received a wonderful holiday surprise: Lee told me he would donate all the profits from my shelving project to Second Chance Pet Adoptions?a rescue organization he has long supported.

He hung the shelving exactly as I requested. Of great importance to me, I had 100% confidence in Ed and felt comfortable leaving him at home with my kittens while I ran an errand. I knew he would ensure their safety and would not let them get outside.

"We impulsively purchased an old log home suffering from neglect. The
damage was much worse than we thought; we even had one contractor advise
us to tear it down and start over.
Clarence Gant, owner of Cand D Custom Log Finishing did not even blink. He and his crew dove in and spent several months putting our poor old house into good order.
The previous owner had painted all the logs a glossy brown enamel (to hide all the Bondo he had packed in to cover the rot!) and Clarence and his crew carefully sanded, stained and re-chinked our 2,300 Sq. Ft. house, replacing logs and railings as needed. This in itself was not small task, as the logs were of random sizes so the replacements had to be planed to fit.
They sanded, caulked, and painted the porch floors and ceilings, including even the screen porch ceiling, which peaks at about 20'.
They also arranged for a sub-contractor to replace a 12'x40' concrete slab porch on one side of the house. Clarence and his crew built concrete piers under the new slab to support it.
An unexpected problem occurred when they had to power-wash a board-and-batten addition (1950's), two large rooms off one corner of the house. When they started the power wash, the water came streaming through all the microscopic cracks in the wood! So they carefully caulked the whole addition and we have not had any more problems (or bats in the bedroom, for that matter!)
I cannot say enough good things about Clarence Gant and Cand D Custom Log Finishing. Without them, we would not have the beautiful, and much less drafty, log home we love so much. Thank you, Clarence and everyone for saving our house!"
