"This project was for remodeling 3 bathrooms and a total kitchen remodel. The construction workers were very skilled. They were very good about listening to our suggestions along the way. I would suggest that the construction foreman be present along with the salesman when the project is estimated so that technical issues and be better clarified. For example, we removed carpet and installed DVT vinyl flooring which resulted in different leveling issues. These issues could have been resolved early on rather than brainstorming solutions with the workers at the ends. The project was done on time as scheduled even though we added some changes along the way. The electrical subcontractor should have clarified options for wiring for the kitchen better. The only negative comment I can make is that we thought the cost was a little high, however the quality was very good. The final project is beautiful."

"Everything looks good after the work was done. I can finally close my bathroom door. I appreciated the fact that the foreman Erick Baez, went over what was done as they were done. I also appreciated that the two installers Manny Erickson and Jesus Villagomez also communicated with me after they were done to reassure that they did a proper job installing the jacks. Very good to know how the process was going. Great job."

"My wife is Russian and Russians love saunas, so I ordered custom logs from the mountains and had Mr. Viss construct a sauna with them.  This required any number of skills and Mr. Viss had all of them. People have been calling this finest private sauna they have ever seen.  You can't go wrong with Mr. Viss."

"Had a great experience with RN3 for a kitchen remodel. Their price was reasonable and beat several other companies by a good amount. Had new countertops and backsplash installed and new cabinet and drawer fronts with new hardware. They also replaced florescent box lighting with canned lighting. I was very happy with the outcome and the would use them again. "

"Very good working with HES. Professional and friendly. The work was hard, including large tree limbs and thorny bush cuttings. An additional truck and person was called in but no changes in cost to me. Highly recommended."

"I did not get the bid for one month. Then it was for bedrooms and bath only, no kitchen remodel. <br /> I got the strong feeling he did not want the job. I would have appreciated the truth up front rather the waste his time and mine. <br /> Seems like  nice guy. <br />"

"Brawley Construction was professional throughout the entire project. They were able to stay within our agreed budget and completed the work on time. Sarah Brawley was helpful in coordinating the desired look. She listened to my wants and needs and offered suggestions to make my remodel turn out the way I envisioned. Owner, Mike Brawley, and employee Ed, kept the projects moving and paid attention to each detail along the way. I was kept informed of progress and when questions would arise I was always consulted. Upon completion, I was contacted as a follow up to see if there was anything that needed addressed and to make sure I was satisfied. I appreciated this."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Escalon, CA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
