"I had 3 bids on the project and Anthony came in lowest by a bit but suggested using better paint- Benjamin Moore Aura- which is what we had used inside. I liked that he knew our favored paint store- Wills Decorating- and when I called them they recommended him highly. It's apparent that it's a newer company and Anthony is trying to build a reputation and loyal client base. His prices seemed very fair and he is personable and straightforward and seems to know paint products well. The painters were friendly and professional, did a great job, and cleaned up well. Anthony followed up with me afterwards and I mentioned an area on the portico repair that looked a bit rough, and he sent someone to fix it. The only rough spots were back and forth scheduling. Anthony seems very busy and replied promptly by text but then didn't always follow up again quickly (this pertains more to scheduling; I never doubted that the work would be done and to our satisfaction). I suspect it means his company is busy. I would definitely hire them again.

"We needed to renovate my childhood home and bring it back to life again to raise my own family and keep mom with us. After asking friends, colleagues, neighbors and scouring Angie's List, we found Lomar Contracting. We interviewed 5 other contractors and Roderick (owner of Lomar) was hands down the best choice. He was immediately responsive when I contacted him and was out to review the space within a couple days. His price was very competitive and previous jobs seemed in the same scale and quality that we were looking for.
Roderick was able to work with us with regard to design, budget and timeline. He offered many suggestions that truly brought the space to into the modern era (removing a 1/2 wall to open up the floor-plan, adding lighting to illuminate a staircase, putting in a pocket door for the 1/2 bath, removing a "whole house fan" that we never used to keep the ceiling line clean, replacing doorbell, etc.)
As we worked through the process from demolition through finishes, every detail was taken into consideration (even when I changed my mind mid thought or forgot about needing another cable jack in the basement, oops!). Roderick and team were always able to make it happen, as Roderick says "not a problem!"
The total contracted cost was $63,900. We went over budget and additional $5,600 for unforeseen costs (new electrical in basement/kitchen/office and new sockets throughout, replace sub-floor in kitchen, minor plumbing)
Our out of pocket cost for some upgraded materials/finishes plus new kitchen appliances was approx. another $5,000.
Not only did we get everything we wanted, but under $75K for a total house transformation done by true craftsmen, in my opinion, is priceless.
