"Our new sunroom is impressive, beautiful craftsmanship, amazing attention to detail, replacing an old sunroom. All the windows were wiped clean before they left as well as the ceiling. The windows slide effortlessly. We had a gutter issue and they came up with a creative idea to manage the water. Our neighbors are stopping to see it. We chose the windows floor to ceiling and you can see the ornamental grass through it, a beautiful look. The installers were friendly and easy to talk with. We love it! Highly recommended! A++"

"I'm very pleased with Ted Naydan. He explained/showed me his credentials/license before starting. He took the time to show me all information from start to finish. I went to Patio Enclosures and Ted gave me a tour of the Sun-Rooms & the place of business at Patio Enclosures. He worked with me on a budget that I could afford on getting my room. I would most recommend him as first choice if anyone is seeking to have an add on to their home."

"Positives: The design work was great. We spoke with several kitchen companies before deciding to go with VKB, and Joe, the designer we worked with, put the most effort into hearing what our goals were and creating a creative plan for us. He was knowledgeable and helpful, and had a good eye to notice things that we hadn’t considered. He also offered helpful suggestions regarding cabinets, countertops, paint colors, etc. We were happy with the finished product. Negatives: The biggest issue we encountered was a lack of communication. We discussed various issues with the designer, but these frequently were not communicated to the actual workers doing the job. For instance, when the workers showed up on the first day, they didn’t actually have the plans for what was being done with the kitchen, and we had to explain the job to them. Joe offered to add lighting inside our closet, and we contacted him and said to go ahead and do it, but that information was not communicated to the workers until it was really too late, so it was never done. Sometimes it was 48 hours before we would hear back from Joe when we contacted him with a question during the process of the remodel. Because a lot can happen in two work days, this was sometimes problematic. The second issue we encountered was that when speaking about the project beforehand, words like “plumber” and “electrician” were used, but no plumbers or electricians were actually employed; general contractors did all the work. As a result, we felt uneasy about the quality of the work that was being done. For instance, the evening after our sink was hooked up, it came disconnected while we were using it, with the result that water was spewing all over our under-sink cabinet until my husband reconnected everything properly. Additionally, the cabinet seal on our dishwasher was installed backwards so that the rubber flap was sticking out. (They fixed this upon request.) Issues like these make us feel uneasy, and we weren’t confident that the work we couldn’t see or notice right away was done right. We wish that an actual plumber had been hired to do the work, as we had expected, or at least that it had been clear up front that this would be the case. Finally, we felt that the workers who were actually doing the job were sometimes careless toward our home. For instance, they piled tools and trash on our back patio, but in the process knocked over a plant and crushed flowers in our flower bed. They got paint smudges on a wooden shelving unit in the kitchen while painting. Similarly, certain details of the job were missed until we pointed them out. The finished product came out well, but we aren’t sure it would have if we had not been carefully supervising. (For instance, they forgot to run an electrical line for the oven until we reminded them, and a different faucet than we had selected was installed. These issues were always corrected once we pointed them out, but we were surprised that mistakes like this were made.)"

"We were very pleased with the work done on our house.  Everything came out beautifully, and is holding up nicely!  Our new spaces make us very happy! <br> <br>As is always the case, the projects took a little longer than expected, but the delay was no more than what one might expect, and the beautiful work made it worth it! <br> <br>There were a few issues at the completion of the project, but the company sent someone to fix the issues promptly, and (obviously) at no extra cost. <br> <br>We had one issue over a year later that they happily came and fixed.  Again, free of charge.   <br> <br>We would certainly use them again if we had any similar projects! <br>"

"We had been putting off getting new windows for years, because of the expense. Finally decided…or the water coming in the front window decided for us, that it was time. I reached out to a few companies, big ones and small ones and scheduled estimates. Kelemer Brothers was the 3rd company to come by. As soon as I met Gabriel I knew this would be the company. I didn’t feel pressured, he did didn’t tell me in advance to have my husband available or a lot 90 minutes for a presentation. He came in, talked to me about what we were looking for and any problems that we were experiencing. Inspected and measured each window. Then shared with me his product and what his company could offer. Went out to his car and prepared a fair and AFFORDABLE quote. A quote that wasn’t going to change if I waited until the next day. That is how it should be! The day of install was also a great experience. I’d highly recommend Kelemer Brothers for your next purchase of windows or doors!"

"I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed working with Shawn and Creative Equity Builders. From the meeting with us at his supplier to select our materials to the care and attention to details as the renovation proceeded, Shawn and his team made our project unique. Clearly impressive was Shawn's artistic flair with the design of our smaller bathroom. Creative Equity Builders' design and build go beyond the what you would expect from a local contractor. "<p><br /></p> <p>Wenkat Design built my addition seven years ago and I would have no other contractor do extensive work in my home.  I'm a builder?s daughter and know when I'm getting quality work.  Brian Flick does quality work.  He is honest, professional and courteous.  He lets you know what will work and what won't work.  He makes sure the job you want him to do is done right.  He worked closely with me during every phase of the project from conception to design, and through working and completion.  Every morning he let me know what he was going to work on that day and gave me a re-cap every evening.   As with most 55-year old homes there were hidden problems behind the wall boards.  Brian analyzed the problem, applied the right solution and still managed to complete the job on time.  The final product was absolutely amazing.   All sub-contractors Brian uses abide by the same code of standards and ethics as Brian, which means the high same high quality of work.  None better!</p> <br />"

"Once I chose them to do the work it took them about a month and half to start. They did an excellent job. The crew of two completed the sunroom in three weeks. Their cleanliness was outstanding."

"I use this company to maintain our hot tub. I contacted Dave for an estimate on a deck extension. We needed a new set of steps so we figured we would make the deck bigger in the process. Dave came out and talked to me about what we wanted and provided an estimate within 2 days. He was not the cheapest but he answered all my questions, knew what he was talking about, made suggestions, and made me comfortable. We started the work several months after the estimate as we agreed. They showed up and in a day the footers were dug. The next day, the footers were poured. The next day the frame was up. Every step of the way things were inspected my the county. Dave even took care of getting the permit. I only had to give him the property plan. The deck and railing was completed in less than 2 weeks. It rained a little which added time, but they were moving so fast I didn't think anything of it. Next came the steps. Dave asked to meet with me becuase he realized what I asked for put the landing too close to our hill ( it has a nice drop off ). He gave me some suggestions and listened to what I wanted. I drew it out for him and he ran with it. When I came home from work and saw the steps, I was amazed. He made my design better. The stair case adds depth and interest to the deck, which is what I wanted. My husband and I were extremely pleased that he was able to match the existing railing and the existing composite deck color. They even attached the railings differently because the original deck company had fhem attached to the outside of the deck instead of to the floor. Our new deck even attracted attention from the neighbors. We love the look, the design and the speed with which the team worked. They cleaned everything up before they left. This was the best home project we ever did. When we decide to close in the deck next year, we will definitely call Dave."

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Essex, MD

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
