"Went a little over budget due to issues running larger conduit and an old breaker panel, but very professional, great to work with, easy to talk to, and flexible with changing plans."

"We used Gen3 in the past for a small job and were pleased, so we decided to use them to replace our old knob and tube wiring. Our technicians were nice and friendly. But there were a lot of problems. They did not sufficiently clean up after the work they did each day. We had to clean up ourselves, and our home was full of dust and debris. The workers scratched our floor, dented some kitchen cabinets, took a chunk out of a wall, and did a sloppy job patching up the holes they made during the job. They missed one of our outlets, so we'll have to rewire that one ourselves. They damaged our outside flood lights, and we had to replace them. They did not label the circuits on the new sub-panel they installed. And, I'm sorry to write this, but they used our bathrooms every day for more than just urination. I felt like our home was abused."

"This Company is great. Brandon Electric, Inc.(215) 722-2988 They got back to me quick, next day estimate; work completed the very next week. Dom and Lou are the Techs who came out to update our electric wires and boxes. They are very professional, hard working and friendly. "I ordered a general checkup of my home. The electrician found a melted wire in my breaker box. He rerouted all of the wires to separate bolts. I opted to get a surge protector installed at that time. I recommend James at Mister Sparky. He explained the questions that I asked. Like, â  What is this switch for?â  Itâ  s a comfort to know that my home is safe now.... and that I have a switch to turn on electric candles in my windows."

"A crew of four men, plus Mike, the owner and chief electrician, came.  I had bought replacement posts and lights at Home Depot.  They took out the old post lights and put in the new ones.  Several of the old ones were not working because the contacts (under the ground) had rusted.  The newly installed ones are working fine now. <br />"

"I used AMR Service Group to install an EV charger which meant upgrading my wiring systems as well. They came to my house for a quote and were amazingly professional. They gave me some advice and told me in front that I may have one or 2 holes on my ceilings. They came back the week after to install everything. They did a great job in less than 3 hours. I had a quick question on the day after (which was a Sunday). I texted them and they called me back on Monday morning to tell me what to do. I can go on and on to talk about how great they are. I would recommend them for any electrical work at your house!!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Essington, PA

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
