"Nicholas Carpet Care saved the day again! Our beagle stay with a pup sitter who must have fed her too many treats! Woke up to messes in THREE different rooms. Called Nicholas Carpet Care and they were able to fit me into their schedule within the week. Don cleaned up the messes and was courteous and professional. I highly recommend this fabulous company!"

"After going to Lowe's in Tigard (and being given the bait and switch action...you get the whole house for one price...except this and this and oh, by the way you will need to pay extra at the dump for hazardous waste because you had some animal urine on your carpet. I had taken all of that carpet up, trashed it and put Kilz Maxx down on the floor. Which works really well.) we went to Home Depot where we received a more professional approach but still weren't sure what to do. Lots of research on the internet pointed to avoiding Big Box stores so we went to Carpet Classics. Jim is extremely knowledgeable, professional, customer service oriented and easy to work with. Jim came out to do measurements, called to remind us of the install date and called after the install to see how we liked it. The installer, Don Roberts, was an ace. He did a beautiful and timely job in our home. He kept the work area as clean as possible everyday. He vacuumed as he went and made sure that he didn't track dirt in other areas of the house. He and his support person, Zack were careful with our furniture that needed to be moved. I'm kind of OCD person and his seems and edges are terrific. I only have high praise for Don and Jim."

"Dave and his crew really came through for us. We had pre-purchased carpet for a remodeled attic about a year earlier that needed to be installed. When the crew came to Install the carpet they let us know that we did not buy enough carpet to finish the job. Dave and his team installed what they could and then squeezed us into their packed schedule a week later after we purchased the remaining carpet. The crew was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Our carpet looks great and we are glad we found Pannell Floors!"

"Flooring was available at a competitive price and arrived from the manufacturer on the East Coast in time for the scheduled installation. Note we had selected the flooring from samples at Linoleum City Portland; we never visited Gilford's store in Gresham. <br /> We found Gilford's on the internet, and checked reviews, including Angie's List. One of the principals came out to advise, measure and close the sale. (That procedure differed from that of a competing bidder, Macadam Floors, who sent someone with a laser measuring device but  no experience in installing floors, and who would have had no way to report the specific challenges of this installation to her company).  <br /> 2 experienced installers arrived as scheduled with the flooring and performed an excellent installation with proper prep (thin concrete for leveling and smoothing irregularities from old flooring). They removed the old rubber coving, disconnected/reconnected the refrigerator water supply tubing. They were interactive with me throughout, accepting of my own problem-solving suggestions, and coming up with a much better idea for the carpet transition than previously planned.  They stretched the carpet bordering the new floor, folded the carpet under to make the transition, and stapled it in place in a very aesthetic and professional manner. This was builder-quality, 20+-year-old carpet with worn underlayment. <br /> End result:  beautiful! <br />"

"I liked the fact that I could go to the flooring store he recommended, select the flooring I wanted and then have it picked up by him.  I had no way to transport something of that size.  David arrived on time for both the estimate appointment and for the installation.  The original plan was to just do the bathroom flooring, but while he was here I asked him about the vinyl in my entryway, thinking this would be a future project.  He explained that it would be more economical for me if he did it today, as a different day would require another trip charge.  He went out to his truck, found a remnant I liked and took care of the entryway right then.  I really appreciated that.  I am a bit naive in how projects like this work.  Someone less ethical might have been happy to come another day and charge me for the separate trip.  I learned a valuable lesson and was thankful for David's honesty.  As if that was not enough, he kindly replaced a few tiles around the bathroom which had come loose/come off with the pounding during the replacement of the sub flooring by a prior workman.  I am 100% satisfied and will certainly hire DJ's Floors again. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Estacada, OR

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
