"We were very satisfied with the foundation work that was done for us. Their customer service from start to finish was awesome! Chris Migani did our initial inspection. He was knowledgeable & explained our problem & the process they would use to do the repairs ,completely. It was very important to him that we understood completely. We never felt rushed or pressured at any time. He was available to us at all times. We felt like we had gained a friend! Ludy & the White team were awesome! They called us when they were on the way everyday & arrived on time. We couldn't have asked for better workers! They worked consistently even though we had some very hot days! They seemed to enjoy their job & worked well together as a team. I I don't want to forget the office staff! They, as well ,were very professional & helpful. We would not hesitate to refer any of our family or friends to Virginia Foundation Solutions. We appreciate you!"

"The process of them putting in a sump-pump system in my basement getting water seepage went pretty well. It took them a long time to get to me because, from what I understand, they stay pretty busy. I was initially told my job wouldn't get done until February 29, 2016 but they then had an opening on December 23, 2015 and they came in and jack-hammered around the perimeter of my basement, where the water was coming in, and installed the piping, sump-pump and reservoir. Initially I was told it would be a one day job but as it happened, they had to come back later to finish up. The first day they did do everything except bury the outlet pipe outside and then re-cementing over where they had dug up my basement to install the piping. For about a week I did have a gravel filled trench in my basement but at least I didn't spend Christmas shop-vacuuming up water like I had been doing. They came back on December 30, 2015 for about half a day and finished up the job. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I thought the people at Seal-Tite were very nice to deal with.  Initially their estimate was over $3,000.00 but they gave me a little discount for having to reschedule my initial assessment and quote in November and they also honored their Angie's list coupon. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The important thing, the water has stopped flowing into my basement which ruined my carpet which I had removed by another contractor. I now have the task of picking out new carpeting, getting the new cement sealed, etc., which will be handled by someone else. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />So far, everything they did seems to be working ok. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />If you do hire them, be sure to give them a deposit so you can be put on their short list in case they have a cancellation. It saved me two months of waiting time for them to get to me on their schedule. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I did give them a "B" on their Responsiveness since they did take a while to get to me but it seems a lot of people these days are having water problems in their basements and crawlspaces so I can't "diss" them too much on that one. They did show up to do the job on time on both days which with contractors these days, from my experience, is a miracle. <br />"

"They waterproofed my crawlspace. They arrived late the morning they started the work, not a problem with me since it was an all day job. there was a misunderstanding about what work was to be done, so we had to contact salesperson and he came by our home to discuss. I ended up having to pay an additional $700 to get the complete job. they also were unable to get the sump pump plugged in to my outlet, so I will have to get electrician to come and add another electrical plug in. I am pleased with the work that they did, but the jury is still out account I have not needed the sump pump due to the fact we have not had any water leaks. So, if I can be critical about anything, I would say they oversold there product, meaning Im not sure I needed what I bought. Time will tell?"

"Robb was very professional and took his time in helping me understand what remedy was needed for our issue.  HIs price was very reasonable.  The installer, Gary, was also very professional and courteous, along with allowing me to ask many questions so I fully understood what work he was performing and how it was going to eleviate my water problem.  I felt very comfortable dealing with Virginia Basement and I didn't feel like they were trying to "oversell" me anything either.  Gary is very knowledgeable in his line of work and I felt very comfortable knowing that what he was saying and doing was the correct way.   Gary was on time each day and cleaned up everything when he was done.  We just moved into this house 3 months ago and this was an unexpected, major repair that needed to get done quickly.  We made the right choice with Virginia Basement with their quick response and expertise with this problem.   We would highly recommend them to others. <br />"

"Mr Linzey from Smith and Keene came out right on time and  found that the unit we had purchased would not work for our shower/bath but instead he was able to save us money and fixed the old unit.  It is working perfectly now.  He did an excellent job but unfortunately while replacing a drawer he had to remove to do the work, he accidentally knocked a fist size hole in our  wall.  He was very apologetic.  He let his office know immediately what had happened and they contacted me promptly to tell me the name of a contractor who would come out to repair the wall.  The contractor contacted me promptly and arranged to come out the next day to do the work.  Greer Industries sent out Mr. Johnny Daw to repair the hole.  He arrived a few minutes early.  He was here for two hours repairing the hole.  It took that long due to drying times in between applications.  He was very nice and very apologetic because he wanted to repaint the wall and we did not have the paint on hand.  He tried to buy the paint to bring with him but I assured him we could take care of that.  He did such a good job that we took his card to have on hand for future handyman jobs.  I could not be more pleased with how Smith and Keene did the work and handled the situation.  I have used them for years for my heating and cooling needs and will continue to use them in the future for both heating/cooling and plumbing work.  They are an excellent professional company. <br />"

"I had a 50-year-old house with a cinderblock basement wall that had water slowly coming through. I researched the various firms that did waterproofing and had three highly rated firms come out for an estimate. The first contractor didn’t even bring a flashlight and just looked around and said to keep an eye on it. The second gentlemen did provide detailed estimate and carefully explained the problem. Randy, the owner, from Chamberlin Washington provided a similar diagnosis and estimate. His estimate was not only a little less expensive but he looked at the entire house and found other things that could use some maintenance. This is what I liked about Randy – he looked at the whole house and discovered several smaller things that should be fixed to avoid issues down the road. These were all things I knew about already but I’m glad someone took the time to examine the entire house and not just the one issue I was having. We had then not only waterproof the outside wall but also fill the expansion joints in our patio and seal one basement window as well as re-point some mortar joints in the brink chimney. When the crew came they went to work. They also did an admirable job protecting our plants. An old section of of a 6' high stockade fence had to be removed and I bough a new section and the crew was happy to put that up. When they water tested the wall they found a small leak. They re-did the sealant and that did the trick. Randy came out and supervised critical parts of the job. He was great to work with and happily fixed a few small things at the end. Randy really cares about doing the job right. I am 100% pleased with the work they did. I watched over much of the repair and everything was done correct and by the book. Overall I can't say enough about how pleased I was with Chamberlin-Washington and their work. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone."

"burned I called Gary he was on his way back to my area from FL. I told him that we had no water that I thought our pump had gone out. He drove all night and was at my house by midday. He went under the house and found out that our pressure gage had burned up. But since we knew our pump was close to being gone and he had one in the truck we just had him fix it. Whole thing took about 3 hours. <br /> I will use him again. He said he moved to FL but to call him anytime and he would come up . <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Exmore, VA

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
