Customers say: True professional

"The crew was outstanding. Would definitely use them again and plan to. Work was done on time, and as estimated. The workers were neat and treated my property as any owner would have liked. The concrete work was done professionally and the rebar was lifted properly with chairs. I unconditionally recommend Carlos and his crew for concrete work."

"The provider came out (approx 75 miles) to give an estimate, then returned within one week to begin the job. Our local government required a building permit, so we had to delay the work until an engineer came out to confirm the structural analysis. After that we arranged for an advance payment of $1500. It took a few hours to do the initial digging. Next the structural posts (I can not recall the proper terms) were put into place and the cement pouring and other steps were completed. As the crew was finishing up they recognized that another outside plumbing type situation needed to be addressed, and they provided some initial assistance so we would know how to communicate with the plumber later. They did a fantastic job!

"A crack in our brick work led us to Abry Brothers Foundation Repair on a referral from the structural engineer. Very nice people to work with. We were provided with a brief explanation up front of the process and a link to a video to watch as well. We had contact information for all of our questions, and they were answered promptly. Very courteous team of hard working guys came out. They were patient and friendly, explained the process as they went through the steps, answered all our questions along the way. They got the job done in one day, cleaned up completely, left the site in good condition. Yes, we recommend Abry Brothers Foundation Repair. This was a good experience."

"The Basement Kings finished their LARGE job this morning, and I can’t praise them enough! They had a long, difficult job, but no complaints. When they discovered a problem, they fixed it. No problem, that’s their job. They found the water problem had a lot to do with drainage, so they worked outside in cold & rain & developed a system to carry water away from the house. That, to me, was over & above, but they said their main objective was to get & keep the basement dry, so they did what they had to do with no complaints. Now you can’t ask for better than that - they give their all! I am totally amazed!!"

"We had a drive poured with runners for RV parking. Partial solid pads front and back of runners. Not the typical pick for most. Hernandez Concrete went beyond expectations to complete our project ahead of rain. Cleaned up. Very professional. Would definitely use them again for future projects!"

"Easy to work with, honest and hard working. They do not sub out their work, they do it themselves!! And they go the extra mile. I had 2 other bids from guys who were just going to sub it out. These guys live here and have for decades so they care about their reputation. They took several additional steps to build our driveway and carport to ensure that it was extra strong that I know other builders would not have taken. We never saw them cut corners in their work, in fact that they seemed to always go the extra mile. The owner of the company was here every day and the whole crew was very professional. I've got another project I plan on using them for in the near future. It is not easy finding honest, competent companies to work with and I was very pleased with United Contractors."

"The deck building went well I think. It took 2 days for Blake and his work partner to complete the deck. They worked pretty fast; came in the morning and worked until about 4:30 or so. I liked the building materials that they used; seem to be very good quality. I did misunderstand however, how the steps would be finished, as Blake said he had quoted me a basic deck model which would not include a board on the front of each step, but the steps would rather remain open. I said that I had not understood that he was only quoting me a basic model, and I did want the steps to look more finished. So Blake got right on it and said that he would add boards to the front of each step, and he was not going to charge me for the labor; only the materials. I insisted on paying him something for the labor however, since he completed the steps the way that I wanted them later that same day. The end result is that I am very happy with my deck. Blake worked very hard to earn my business and was willing to match a little lower quote that I had received from another company. He actually called me a number of times before I decided to go with Maxey Construction, in an effort to earn my business. I would definitely use his company again for some future projects that I have inside of my home."

"Accede and Jess did an exceptional job. He kept us informed every step of the way via email and text and also provided picture updates when he thought it would be helpful. The work was completed on time and on budget. I was especially impressed with the workmanship and attention to detail. Everything looks very professional and polished. There were a couple of instances where we had minor concerns or questions and Jess answered them promptly and to our satisfaction. We would definitely use them again and would recommend them as well."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Fairfield, TX

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
