"Absolutely amazing experience. SO EFFICIENT, always on time, GREAT value, unbelievable communication, and tremendous transparency. The contractors were so GREAT at what they do, and were clean and always on time. No hidden costs or expense (which you deal with with MOST contractors). This is not the best contracting company I have worked with, this is the BEST COMPANY I have ever worked with."

"Santo has now completed the replacement of all doors in our home. Which looks so beautiful and makes our home more up to date and provides such a clean look. Santo installed a new hard wood floor in our entire main floor level. He went to the flooring store to help us pick out the flooring and he was able to advise the flooring rep of exactly what flooring and materials were needed to complete the job. He built valances for our kitchen windows, patio door, and hung the new blinds for us which look fabulous. In addition to providing more storage space for us, he built a coat rack and shelf for my husband's hats in our basement. Saved us space and it looks great as well as being very functional. He built a covering made of wood and placed it around the base of our fireplace to hide speaker wires and it is simply beautiful. Santo is excellent in all that he does and is an expert woodsmen. He is very flexible and will work with your schedule. I HIGHLY recommend him for whatever your home repair needs are. Our friends and family are always complimenting the transformation he made to our home."

"Renewal Solutions helped us after we had a tree fall on our house and cause extensive damage throughout our home. We did research on contractors in the area and they were recommended by our neighbors. Renewal Solutions were very responsive and never pushy during the estimate phase. Once we selected them they did major repairs on our house in 6 weeks where others said it would take at least 8-10. Their workers were there every single day, showing up in the morning and working through the afternoon six days a week. If he had any questions, Joe and Tommy were available and ready to answer them promptly. I heard horror stories about contractors before so I feel very lucky we ultimately ended up using Renewal Solutions who made this terrible ordeal easy and got us our home back in record time and looking better than ever."

"On behalf of the family, we would like to thank M&J Home Services for the beautiful bathroom renovation they completed in our home. Jeff designed and remodeled a bathroom thatâ s completely updated now. The shower has all the bells and whistles! His motto â Whatever you want done, we can do it for youâ is absolutely true. His skill set is unmatched. A linen closet enhances what was originally there. He is a master of all trades and was able to refinish the deck too. We are grateful to Jeff and Milena for their hard work and perseverance in completing the job in a very professional way. They are trustworthy and respectful of the property they are working on at all times."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Farmingdale, NJ

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
