"Selection process was easy with Will at the Westwood Shopping Center.  Design choices were made at the job site and a complicated hallway hardwood installation was planned.  Two separate crews worked on the job, one to pull carpet and lay the new carpet and lay the prefinished hardwood hallway, a second to remove old carpet in a back stairwell and replace with hardwood treads and MDF risers. <br /> Color matching of existing hardwood was done very well.  The details of the job to ensure blending of the new hardwoods to the existing hardwoods was superb.  Both crews were professional and tidy.  Overall the job took minimal time to get in, demo and replace floors.  It was all done before the Thanksgiving holiday and a home full of company. <br /> All my phone calls were answered promptly.  All glitches were handled smoothly and at the end I have a very lovely product that is of quality. <br /> I would recommend Will at Westwood for all your flooring needs. <br />"

"Overall the experience was NOT excellent. I would give them a "good" rating,  but not sure if I would use them again.  We used the location in Durham, NC <br /> The crew that installed the carpet also moved our furniture and dinged up a few pieces pretty good.  Our bed in the master bedroom had chips in the wood (they had taken it apart and stored it in our master bathroom during the installation).   They did not point this out or apologize, I just found the issues after they left and know for certain it was their damage as we recently moved into the house and I had already inspected the furniture from the movers so I knew where any pre-existing scratches, etc...were - these were new. <br /> Crew also was loud and played music, etc...even though I was working from home.  Overall they just did not appear very professional nor were they able to communicate well.   Ideally we would have liked to have our salesperson or a project manager to at least show up at the end of the day to review the work and ensure it was done properly.  <br /> The amount of carpet needed was either underestimated or the vendor shipped too little or there was a mix-up on the order, but either way we were short on carpet in the media room and had extra carpet in the bedroom (we had 2 different styles in each room).   I was told they would "rush" an order of the media room carpet to finish the job as soon as possible.  A week later I still had no carpet on the media room staircase and had to call and ask what the issue was.   Again was given reason that vendor was slow to ship (not sure what happened to the "rush" shipment I was promised initially). <br /> They did finally get someone out on a Saturday to finish the job and they did give us a small discount for our troubles after we asked for it.   Overall the carpet looks ok but we do notice a lot of lumps/bumps in certain areas where it seems like we can feel the carpet staples underfoot when we walk barefoot on the carpet.   So far we haven't had any issues with the carpet coming up, etc...and we hope it stays that way - but overall I am not certain the quality of the installation was the best out there.    We do love the carpet itself which is more praise to the manufacturer than the installation vendor.  We ordered a soft carpet from Dreamweaver in both rooms and really like the look/feel of the carpet. <br /> Based on our experience I am not sure we would use again.  I think they could improve their process by having a project manager check in on the job and having better communication with the customer. <br />"

"Fabulous. They were extremely helpful on the phone, setting up times & giving estimates based on prospective carpets. The same level of courtesy from staff at the showroom to confirm the color and type of carpet. The installers showed up ON TIME! and were done that same morning. They moved out the bedroom furniture and no scrapes on the door jams. When they left there was absolutely nothing for me to clean up after and it was all set for my house guests to enjoy. The carpet is as described, installation flawless. I'll definitely go back to them for my next project."

"She really helped us a tremendous amount and she has a lot of knowledge on the subject. She's been in business for thirty five years and she really knows her stuff and always takes her time with you. She even stayed after business hours to help us out, it's a good business. She even offered a lot of advice on how to keep the carpet clean after we buy it."

"Diane and her staff are great in store. Diane came out for estimate and the estimate was well within our budget. We had vinyl sheet flooring installed in kitchen and 2 bathrooms and carpet installed in master bedroom. Price included demo of existing tile in bathrooms, removal of old carpet etc..... Highly recommend."

"Our 9mo old puppy chewed our carpet (carpet, liner, foam padding) all the way down to the wood base underneath in about a 3x1ft area. I found Carpet One and saw they had several good reviews from the same type of work (carpet repair from dog damage), so I was confident in trusting them to do the job. I called and spoke to Mary, and she was very helpful, informative, and friendly. She went above and beyond to make sure I had all the information I needed and answered all of my questions. She gave me an estimate, told me about the job, and since it was later in the afternoon, made an apt. for Dale to come out and look at it for an estimate and more detail of the job the next day. <br /> The next day (Wednesday), Dale came on time. Actually a couple minutes early, and he told me what would be done and how the finished job would look. We had an extra piece of the same carpet from installation out in the garage, he went in there and looked at it, and explained that since the rest of our carpet has been down since August, that the brand new piece would look different and would be like night and day but that it would become less noticeable over time. He was also very helpful and friendly. It took him about 5 minutes and he told me Mary would call me back with the exact price and to schedule the repair. She called me very promptly, and we scheduled the apt. for Friday. She explained we'd have to come in and fill out some paperwork and pay (which we did Thursday). <br /> Friday (today) Charlie came out to do the job. He was on time, and basically came in the door talking my ear off. Which is a good thing! Every time I've ever had someone come out to our house to do a job, they just wanted to do their work and didn't really talk. So it's awkward to the point where you feel like you have to go into another room and just let them work. Not Charlie! He was awesome, he felt more like an old friend coming to visit than just someone here to do a job. I instantly felt comfortable with him, like I've known him for years. He is friendly and very easy to talk to. We shared a cup of coffee and talked the whole time he worked. But that didn't distract him! He did an outstanding job. I was amazed by how good it looks. As Dale said, it was going to be obvious like night and day where the patch is. So that's what I was expecting. But you can barely tell. You can still tell, but not nearly as much as I was expecting. And Charlie was very confident that in a few months of wear you won't even be able to tell where the patch is or that it was ever repaired. And I believe him, because you can barely tell now. Not only was he friendly, and easy to talk to, but he was very professional and great at his job. I would recommend Charlie to anyone. And if we need another repair done I would request him personally. <br /> My experience with this company was outstanding, and I would recommend them to anyone! From their receptionists and customer service, to their handymen and their professionalism, and even to price (which I feel was very fair) they are amazing and get an A+ rating in my book =] <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Fayetteville, NC

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
