"Excellent work by Hunter K., Jacey H., and Teddy F.!!! I was so impressed with the encapsulation of my crawlspace that I immediately scheduled for the crew to come back and encapsulate my basement! They were very careful and attended to details, communicated every step of the process, made sure I understood what they were doing and why, and that I was pleased with the work. The space looks, smells, and feels amazing!!! Thank you to the best crew around!!!"

"The work was done almost 2 years ago and is holding up without any issues. It was done in the timeframe promised, done professionally and the finishing was excellent. I had flooring installed and developed an issue due to the installation. Both the owner and site leader recently came out and inspected the system to ensure there was no issue with the drain (there wasn't). This type of customer service is rare these days. I am very happy I had the system installed and appreciate the professionalism I have encountered with this company from the estimate, work, finishing and follow-up. Thank you!!"

"We are very happy with the service! Caleb was very through, explained our options, performed the service in a timely manner. He had to remove the toilet to snake the drain. He did a great job of replacing the toilet and cleaning up! I would highly recommend this company."

"One screw type pier installed. 2 workers hand dug hole below bottom of foundation. Cleaned out under foundation for platform. Although foundation was deeper than I thought, the hole was done much better and quicker than I envisioned. Pier was screwed at bottom of hole with a hydraulic motor. Once limit on hydraulic pressure was reached, the pier was cut at proper level, platform installed, and cracked section of foundation was raised with a hydraulic jack. Crack in stonework closed up nicely without going too far and creating additional cracks. Workers had 5 and 15 years experience doing this work. Very professional and did a very nice job every step of the way. Note that I (homeowner) chose to move and reinstall landscaping stones and gutter drain. Also, tuckpointing/repairing the cracks was not included in the quote. I plan to do that myself at a later date."

"Had my parents temporarily living with me in my finished basement while their home was being built. The toilet in the basement would not drain and also began leaking from the base which was likely the result of my father's extensive (and unsuccessful plunging). Left a message with another well known drain cleaning company at 9:00 pm on a Friday night. After the call was not returned by 9:00 am the following morning, I decided to call All-Rooter. Left a message and Jerry called me back 30 seconds later. He apologized for missing my call, assessed my situation and said he would have someone over within two hours. Less than two hours later, Justin showed up. Justin removed the toilet, successfully cleared the blockage in the sewage line and reinstalled the toilet (along with new wax ring) faster than I could say "my weekend is salvaged". I could not have been more pleased with their attentiveness, knowledge and professionalism. I would recommend All Rooter to anyone."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Fife Lake, MI

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
