Customers say: Quality work

"Tomas was a real pleasure to work with. He responded promptly to our initial inquiry and provided a reasonable quote and offered good suggestions regarding how to best complete our kitchen and bath cabinet refinishing and restoration project. Work was done ahead of schedule and with excellent results. He kept us informed of his progress and managed to complete the work with very little mess or disruption. Would hire him again without reservation."

"This is our one-and-only bathroom in the house, but Charlie made it easy for us to live through the remodel.  It only took about 2-3 weeks from the beginning to the end of construction.  Charlie and the crew were very respectful, clean and conscientious so as not to disturb the rest of our living space during the project.

Everything in the new bathroom functions so well. We're so happy with the quality of work and attention to detail. Charlie's advice to install a built-in soap cubby, a heated floor, motion sensing lights at floor/ceiling, a motion sensing flush toilet, and even a hidden medicine cabinet that comes out of the dead space behind the shower valve.  We never would have thought of these details and now we love using them everyday in this new bathroom.

We are happy with not only all the functionalities of the bathroom, but also all the design choices.  Since we have a very small space to work with we have chosen light colors for all the materials, and it makes the space look much bigger than it is.  Charlie has helped us through the process of choosing materials.  When we first chose a floor tile that may have been too slick when wet, for example, he has informed us that and suggested something else that's less slick but just as pretty.  I love taking photos of my artwork in the new bathroom - it gives a clean look with always ample amount of light.

We are extremely happy wth the new bathroom!  We couldn't have asked for it to turn out any better.  Absolutely the best thing we've ever done to our house!

"They were prompt, competitively priced (although not the least expensive), and did great work. Our cabinets now look brand new. They got the job done on time and within budget. They were careful not to track dirt or other construction debris in the house. We are very satisfied."

"I was impressed when I first met Cesar, he listened to what we wanted to do for our remodel and his team was able to recreate what we envisioned. There were a couple of issues after the remodel was completed that needed to be fixed and Cesar made sure that they were resolved. There were also a couple of times when there was a contractor that did not show up or was late and we did not know that they canceled or were running late until hours later. I do have other areas of the house I would like to use Cesar and KNC in the future, I will just need to make sure that if they are running late or not coming to have them msg me so my husband or myself doesn't need to take time off from work."

"This was a cabinet with double doors and two shelves on the bottom, one drawer above the double doors. Also included two glass doors and 3 adjustable shelves above to display dishes etc. Angel came to our apartment and took measurments and photos to verify all measurments. When he brought the finished cabinet, I was stunned at the quality of his work, He matched the wood grain (Oak), All joints were invisable!! All doors and drawers lined up perfectly. He must have used a micrometer instead of a measuring tape. Angel called before arriving for his appointment. Always on time.. I've built and seen many cabinets and have never seen any as well made and finished. Angel takes pride in his work, As he should. If you want perfection and on time delivery at a fair price .A.L.CABINETS IS YOUR GO TO PLACE"

"Did crown molding first then sheetrock repair. while first coating on sheetrock was drying, did not have additional work to do since the crown was already installed. bad project management. resulting in sheetrock repair not getting a second coat as needed. need to bring in another sheetrock guy to put on the second and final coat. crown mold inside corners have 1/8 to 3/16" gaps, had to fill with wood filler to make it look good. would not hire again for any finish type work."

"We had the company build a custom entertainment center, we liked it so much we had them remodel our kitchen to match. We had our kitchen Done not to long ago but we loved the look of the work so much we had to do it in our kitchen. We got three bids and there price was in the middle. They told us the job would take three weeks and it took a little over two! They explained the schedule with us at the contract signing and stuck to it. There was some one at our house every day,and they worked at least 8 hours a day. They were very clean. They built custom cabinets, installed a granite counter with undermount sink, and put a stone floor in. Our kitchen looks very custom! We love it and would recommend them to anyone!

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Forest Grove, OR

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
