"We interacted with the owners, Claire and Dave. They always returned our calls and even if they did not have an answer to our question, they will find out and return our call. We had a very positive experience with them. Their team was punctual, professional, considerate, hardworking, efficient. and went above and beyond to clean everything up afterwards. We had our kitchen cabinets refaced (which cost only a fraction of replacing all of them) and we are very happy with the results AND the experience we had with Refinish First. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who is considering refinishing/refacing their cabinets instead of getting all new ones."

"The job went smoothly and perfectly. They were very professional and we are very happy. It’s wonderful to be able to use the full depth of the cabinet with easy access. Not having to bend or get on the floor to get what is in the back of the cabinet is wonderful."

"I really wanted to give Cabinet Cures a good review, but the project was not without its issues. Before the work began, we specifically asked the crew NOT to put any painter’s tape of any kind on the hardwood floors. They had put blue painter’s tape down on protective paper and revamped by replacing it with “sensitive” tape even though they were asked not to use any tape at all. We were told the sensitive tape would not damage the floor and that the paper had to be taped down for safety reasons. Needless to say, when the paper was pulled up, the floor was damaged in several spots where the tape removed the finish. They told us they are not responsible for floor damage and that due to the age of the finish, the result was unavoidable. Unavoidable? How about no tape…no damage. We were given a timeframe of 5-10 days for project completion and it was nearly three weeks, mainly because the hardware (handles) for the cupboards and drawers were on back order. Perhaps this should have been known before starting? Only half were installed in a timely manner. We were also advised not to disturb the crew while they were working as the work is precise, but my husband just happened to notice that they were refacing our island in white and it was supposed to be in walnut. My husband caught that early. The first night after they left, I went to use the microwave and someone from the crew had left a cup of coffee in it. This is during COVID and they had not asked to use the microwave. Second day my husband heard “dinging” sounds from the kitchen and they were again trying to use the microwave to heat coffee but were actually using controls for the lower oven. I just thought this was disrespectful to the homeowner during a pandemic. So, do I like my new refaced cabinets, yes. Do I like strangers using my appliances without permission…nope. Do I like my damaged floors…not so much. Beware and read the fine print in the contract and maybe think twice about using this company."

"The entire process went very well. I would reccommend Pullouts Plus to anyone who wanted to update their kitchen and make everyday chores alot easier for a very reasonable price.. In fact, as an example of Dave Taylor going the extra mile without thinking twice about it for several weeks I have had a bit of a loose seat on my main bathroom. I rarely use this bathroom but all my guests do. Dave adjusted it and didn't mention it until this 2nd visit in which he installed my shelves. I did notice when cleaning the bathroom that the seat seemed to have tightened up and now I know why. Overall a very pleasant experience from start to finish. High quality work completed very promptly and with thorough clean up. I have been thinking about getting my cabinets refaced and I now know who I'll call to do the work."

"We contacted Surface Solutions to request a bid to have our cabinets refaced and our countertops replaced. We received a response very quickly telling us that he would contact us the following Monday to schedule a visit. Monday came and went - no contact. Finally received a response a day or two later and set up a visit appointment. He showed up for the appointment and took measurements and described what his process was and said he would send us his bid the following day. Next day - nothing. Two days later, he sent us a bid for the cabinet refacing in e-mail and said that he was not able to get the countertop information but would get that to us within the next day. That was a week ago and we have received no further communications. The cost quoted to us for the cabinet refacing seemed reasonable but if we can't count on a vendor following through on simple communications, how can we expect to count on them when we're actually getting work done?"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Forest Grove, OR

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
