"I highly recommend A1 for radon mitigation! They did an excellent job and I was very satisfied with both the installation and the results. Andrew was very professional, knowledgeable, and extremely responsive in his communication. Andrew and Rob installed a drain tile depressurization system, which was vented thru the attached garage roof. The fan was located in the garage attic, which required electrical work by their sub-contractor Brothers Electric. The installation took about 2 hours, whereas the electrical work was completed the next day in about an hour. A1 provided a short-term radon test for post-mitigation testing. My basement radon level went from 4.7 to 0.6 pCi/L."

"Four man crew showed up and started with a review of work order and expectations (basement water drainage system)Quickly organized plan of work and promptly Started in a systematic way and accepted assistance from home owner. The crew was efficient and friendly. On the third day an additional crew of two men arrived to install Radon mitigation system. Electrical guy arrived to install outlet on outside of home and helped complete the radon system. Completed job quickly and cleaned up. Appreciated the review of planned work and customized it to our home. The crew leader listened and made appropriate adjustments. Thank you so much for all your hard work."

"I was very pleased with their work. The post-installation test results show that their system is removing the radon from my home. They got the work done promptly and were very easy to work with. And their pricing was lower than anyone else's. I highly recommend Radon Stoppers."

"Walt and his crew did an amazing job mitigating radon from our basement! Radon level went from 4.4 pCi/L to 0.3. Out of 3 bids, he was the only one to come to our house to look at how to route the system. He wasn't in a hurry and explained everything to me in layman's terms. On the day of the install, they arrived promptly and explained what they were going to do. They suggested testing out the sump pump before they sealed up the area and I realized it wasn't working. I purchased a new sump and they even helped me put it in! Wasn't expecting that kind of service. Would highly recommend Advanced Radon Services."

"Great experience. Robert visited the house, evaluated all potential sources of radon, and provided an estimate for the installation of the mitigation system. He was very thorough and explained the whole process. A week later, his stepson Sy installed the mitigation system. Just like Robert, Sy was very professional and friendly. Last but not least, the mitigation system works great. Before the installation, the radon level was 7.9 pCi/L, after installing the mitigation system, levels dropped to 1.2 pCi/L. <br />"

"A+ It went great! Doug was early, and already had the out buildings inspected before I arrived. This left me time to focus on the home, which was the bulk of the inspection time. I really appreciated that, since I was on my lunch, and I am more concerned about the home than the other buildings. Doug was very thorough and explained why he would either flag or not flag an item. He explained what to look for when it comes to settling of a home, which eased my mind. It is also convenient that Doug has his own Radon detector. He set it up two days before the inspection date so we could review the preliminary results together. TEST FOR RADON! The price was very reasonable for something so important. It was high in this house, which is common for homes in MN and WI. I was then able to ask the owner to install a radon mitigation system."

"Rick and crew kept at it after first effort resulted in still-too-high radon levels. This if not uncommon, and Rick added solutions until a good test was achieved, at no additional cost. Would highly recommend."

"We shopped around and Midwest Radon Specialists was the only group of five I contacted to actually come out to look at my home first before giving an estimate. I really appreciated that because we have a slightly odd home with an upper level that was added later, and planning a decent route for the mitigation system was a little unique. During the home visit the proposed plan was very well explained to me and I felt good about the interaction. It took us a couple of months to move forward with the project on our end, but that wasn't a problem for them and they got us added to their schedule. During our delay, I purchased a digital radon detector and the readings on that were above 30pci/L the week before the mitigation system was installed, so I was a little concerned with what level the reduction would get us to. The actual install took ~2 1/2hrs and seemed to go very smoothly, and the installers were very professional and answered all the additional questions I had for them. It's been 3 days since the install and the levels are down below 1pci/L now. I'm very happy with the interactions I had with and the job that Midwest Radon Specialists did and would recommended them to anyone else looking for radon mitigation."

"Jamie gave us the good news and bad news. They also did a refrigerant charge on my old unit to get us by until they were able to install the new AC and furnace. Also caught the need for grounding of our gas line to bring it up to current building code."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Forest Lake, MN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
