"We had a break-in, and needed a new basement door and framing installed immediately. This was the only company that confirmed from the start that they would be able to come the same day, and arrived in the time window they estimated. We were obviously a bit shaken up from the break-in, and the contractor went with us to Home Depot to pick out a more secure door. He installed both a new door and a glass/metal exterior security door in a very short amount of time considering how much work was to be done. He stayed until the job was done to our satisfaction, and answered any questions we had. Probably the best customer service experience we have ever had. "The quality of the fence and in particular the gates were done very well. Good crew and estimator. Clean up was exceptional. However, the front office needs work. Left messages and they do not call back. Scheduling the estimate and work took more than one call. The billing for down payment was different than one listed on the estimate. Second time I have used them, believe their quality and price is more important than their lack of internal coordination and responsiveness."

"Lawrence came out on a Saturday to fix the lock on our iron gate before we left for vacation. As we suspected, the lock was shot but Lawrence was able to replace it with newer version of the exact same Yale lock! Lawrence was extremely knowledgable regarding DC codes and explained that if we rented our house, we could call back and have the lock portion replaced with a handle! Great job! Would absolutely call them again!"

"Beitzell did a great job for us.  The estimator was punctual and professional, and the price was $1600 less than the highest of four bids we received - for better quality construction than offered by the highest bidder.  Our lot is not flat, so the fence had to run up and down hills and was very much a custom job - no pre-built panels.  The work was done in one day, the crew was neat and hard-working, and the quality of the fence fully met our expectations.  We paid half up front, and the rest after the fence was completed.  I would use Beitzell again without hesitation - absolutely nothing not to like.

"We had Nafi come in to give a price on refinishing some oak flooring and replacing some carpet with similar flooring. He is very charismatic and indicated that it would be cheaper just to pull everything up and install new. We had had a tree fall which destroyed a deck attached to our bedroom which we never use. There is a sliding glass door which led out to the deck. Nafi suggested removing the door and replacing with a window which would open up livable space in the room. He said he could do the framing with the rest of the job. We live in Reston and they are very particular about things and I told him numerous times that the trim on the outside had to match the other windows. He told us he had a source for surplus hickory flooring and gave us a budgetary price for the work of $10k. He came back a week or so later with some samples to show us. He indicated that the surplus flooring he had proposed did not come with a guarantee and thus he wouldn't install it. As a result the formal price for the floor with the window framing was about $12k, a 20% increase. We had done a bit of shopping around, and this was still a fair price, so we accepted. At the appointed time, Nafi and his crew showed up, and on the first day they did the demo, most of the framing work and a bit of the floor installation. On the second day, they finished the floor. He indicated that he would come back to finish the window work. He wanted all but $600 of the remainder of the money. We paid him, which turned out to be a mistake. After that he basically refused to come out and finish the window trim, which had to be completed before the window was installed. My son and I installed the trim a couple of days before the window was available for installation. There is one piece of shoe moulding that was missed in the original install and several small pieces were split when they were nailed and have come loose. I've asked Nafi for a stick of shoe a half dozen times to no avail. So, they do good work, when you can get them there. Don't even think about paying them until you are certain the job is completed."
