Small jobs welcome

"I called Bruce, 5/6/2024 he came out the same day to take measurements of my balcony that needed rescreening. He explained the different type of screens. Two days later my balcony frame was reinforced and rescreened. The workers even cleaned around my balcony that was full with spider web and all types of bugs (yuk). Henry and Josh worked together really nice and quickly. I will recommend Bruce's Cool Sun Screen to everyone."

"In Jan 2019, we paid them $3100 to rescreen our pool area. We were given a 5 year Warranty. It looked like a great job and they had to come out and replace a panel a rat ate through, and we paid for that. Perfect. Then we got iguanas that pulled 2 panels from the roof side of the house. We offered to pay for those, However, there are 6 more panels that came loose and the spine is hanging and loose panels are flapping that were NOT done by the animals. The workmanship should last more than 6 months. We have not had any storms and with just daily weather, so many panels should not have come loose. We called, texted, sent letters with no response. We only want the screens repaired as stated in the 5 year warranty, which is not being honored. We don't like doing bad reviews but are really hurt that the screen warranty is not honored. $3100 is a lot of money for us and we are back where we were with bad screens. All we want is, the screens fixed and we will pay for the 2 panels damaged by the iguanas. Thank you."

"Overall it went ok. We had some issues with not getting information in a timely fashion regarding when the windows were actually going to be installed. The company did call to let us know that the first date the windows were to arrive at the store was not going to be until the following weekend in December. When that date rolled by, we had to call the store to find out where they were and when they would be installed since we didn't hear back from the store. We received an email from the company saying that there was a back log on the windows due to many orders being filled. Needless to say, it took phone calls and some emails from us before we finally got an installation date. When they installed the dining room sliders, they broke two floor tiles. Fortunately, we had two replacement tiles. They laid the tiles down but did not do any grouting of the new tiles and did not remove the old grout from around the tiles. That still has not been addressed. We knew in advance that we were responsible for any painting that would be necessary after the installation. The stucco work on the outside of the dining room sliders needed to be done at some unknown time in the future. There was a chip on one of the handles of the sliders....that was noted on the receipt. There was a glob of clear caulking along the side of one of the bedroom windows....that still needs to be addressed. The windows were dirty but we were told that we had to keep the stickers on all the windows until after the final inspection...again...sometime in the future. When the windows were installed, it was 7pm at night and we could not do a proper inspection until the following day. We received a letter from the company asking how our experience was and we filled it out with the above information. Following our sending in the review of OUR EXPERIENCE we received a call from "ZAC" who said he was from the service department. He asked what he could do for us. I asked him if he had received evaluation, and he said yes. I asked him if he had read it and he said NO. I asked him to read it since I had just written everything out about our experience. He did pull it up and sort of read it quickly....and sort of a bla bla bla kind of response, and then continued to refute pretty much everything we outlined in our response. By this time I was totally irritated because he obviously didn't care a hoot about what we had to say. I told him that if they weren't interested in our EXPERIENCE, they should not have asked for our input. So it was like....what do you want us to do about it? I told him that the company had to take responsibility for the two broken tiles as well as the other items we had listed as issues. Begrudgingly, he said that they could fix the tiles, could clean the windows, do the stucco work, take care of the chipped handle and remove the glob of clear caulking on the bedroom window (which was done at the factory.) He said that he would set up this work to be done on one day, January 29....ONE MONTH FROM THAT DAY! ONE MONTH to have to live with funky looking windows and two partially repaired broken tiles and terribly dirty windows etc. I told him that one month was not acceptable. He said that he could have the installation manager call us to discuss this further. I can only assume that ZAC wanted to get off the phone and not have to deal with customers. The lower grades we have given this company is in large part because of a person (ZAC) who should not be in customer relations....and that's putting it nicely. My husband spoke with the installation manager who was accommodating and evidently had the stucco person come out on a Saturday, unannounced, to do at least the stucco work. We still have all the other issues to be addressed which, at this point, looks like it won't be until January 29th. The windows themselves are very nice....pricey, but very nice....we have no complaints about them. Our major issue was that after sending us an evaluation for us to fill out, the company had the wrong person addressing our concerns. We paid a very large amount of money for these windows and expected a Paradise experience..which is this company's motto, but that just didn't happen."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Fort Pierce, FL

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
