"When I requested a quote on Angie's list, I had a response from Jesse in 20 minutes (on a SUNDAY). Once I scheduled the work, Manny and Christian showed up on time and walked me through the process. They resurfaced my tub from dull beige to sparkling white, cleaned up and were gone within 4 hours. They were efficient, nice and respectful. We were so impressed with the service, we have scheduled A Star to paint our kitchen and bath cabinets and install our kitchen backsplash later this month."

"Initially, I received a written quote by email and was surprised to see on the day before the crew started a handwritten estimate that indicated any modification will be an extra charge. This was not indicated in the original email. I was asked to sign off on it. Along the way Jose said he ran into an issue where I needed to pay an additional $175. Then he stated I needed to replace wood, and the flashing and shingle on each dormer, yet he couldn't quite come up with an estimate on this extra work. He mentioned that I needed to have it done immediately, yet when he spoke to my husband he said it was not urgent and seem to give me a hard time about it after he spoke to my husband, which I did not like. There was also an issue about his bank not being able to cash the check on the day he attempted to deposit it in his bank, because it would take a few days to clear. There was this urgency. I told him I had no control over his bank procedures. All of this was anxiety provoking, because I have never had these types of issues with other contractors. Even though they did their best to clean up, I did find several nails and pieces of siding on the front lawn."

"The service we received from Kitchen Central, specifically Laura, was excellent. She helped me figure out the type of backsplash design that complimented the cabinets, granite countertop and our tile floor. Those who installed the cabinets, backsplash and countertop did a great job as well. Our granite was purchased from Allied Stone and it was hard picking the color because everything they have is beautiful. Our kitchen cabinets are beautiful with complimentary accents."

"Daniel did a great job.  Tub looks great and he took good care to not mess up the bathroom.  There was a bit of overspray but he cleaned most all of it up.  Tub looks great and now the renters want the name of the company for their mother-in-law's tub.
This was rental property and I will use them again on other properties.
Price was reasonable.  I had trip charge because I was far away but overall cost was still reasonable.

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Freeport, TX

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
